Grooms father wants to play guitar and sing a song

Viktoria, on July 4, 2021 at 10:59 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
Hey everyone.. need some advice. My husbands father wants to play his guitar and sing a song he’s been practicing for months. He has cancer and we originally didn’t think he would make it to the wedding. So it’s great news…. But when should he do that? During toasts? I’m not sure when the best time for that is? Any suggestions are helpful, thanks!

Do you know what the feel of the song is? Upbeat? Sentimental? That could help guide you. Also - do you have to do it during the reception? Could you do it during the ceremony? That might make it more special.

I think during the ceremony would be a good time to have him play the song. During the reception, people like to talk so they might not actually pay attention.

During the ceremony, people typically do readings. You can swap out one of the readings with this song.

Maybe during the ceremony or right before as prelude music?

Totally agree with everyone- during the ceremony when you have everyone’s attention.

If he was comfortable with it and his parents are together, he could perform for the mother son dance song as those are typically sentimental and it could be a really sweet moment to include both of his parents.

Definitely during the ceremony when everyone's attention isn't elsewhere. Smiley smile

I’m so sorry to hear about your father in law. But im so glad he’s holding on to have this special moment with you guys! I think during the cocktail hour is a great time! Everyone loves live music during this “mingle” time. Or even have him sing the song while you do your first dance with your soon to be husband. I think having his dad sing a song during your first dance would be soo special ❤️❤️

First that is great news and I know that it would mean everything to both of them. I say after your first dance its seem like it means so much too him. Aww he been practicing to he just want to show you how much that he loves you both and still can enjoy the rest of the party. You guess can enjoy and fun too
