Groom's day of schedule...

NJ Bride, on August 18, 2011 at 2:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

So, does anyone have a day of schedule for their groom? I should make sure he schedules time for:

- waking up (my FH is such a pain... he needs like 30 minutes to actually get out of bed after the first alarm goes off)

- showering

- touch up shaving

- breakfast

- getting dressed in the tux

- extra time to get over to the church

And what else? And how early should he be at the church?

If he's anything like mine...he needs to shoot for an hour early, so he has 15-30 minutes to spare!

Are you having a photographer take 'getting ready' photos of the guys?

Is he meeting the groomsmen? Will he be arriving via limo or his own car? Is the photographer doing pics of the guys at all before the ceremony? I'd say he should be there for when the guests start arriving, so an hour before seems good.

Maybe include a list of things to remember? For example will he have the rings or the marriage license? If so , make sure there is a list reminding him to bring them.

Will he be the one responsible for bring the license, rings, vendors' balances?

Make sure everything is laid out the night before (shorts, socks, shoes, handkerchief to use, pocket square for decoration, tie, T-shirt, shirt, jacket, slacks).

He'll be with his parents the night before and they'll drive him over. (So I know I need like 15 minutes of extra time, but his mom will make sure he's on time. Smiley smile) He's getting the tux from Men's Wearhouse, so as long as he tries it on in the store and puts everything back in the bag, that should be taken care of. Smiley smile He probably won't have the rings or anything since I'll be with my parents and they're closer to the church (only 5 minutes away in case we forget anything!) and our license goes to the minister during the rehearsal. He's gonna be in a hotel and I'll be at my parents' house, so the vendors balances will probably be safer with me. He'll be meeting his attendants at the church and they'll have a few pics taken there, but no getting ready pictures, so that can even be done while people are being seated. The wedding is at 9:45 in the morning - do you guys really think people will be there an hour early? I was thinking he'd shoot for 9:15 am. (plus 15 extra min. so 9)

I just feel like I have so much more to do and he's got a very short list! It makes me feel like I'm missing things, but maybe not... darn being a girl and having to take hours to look all pretty!

I don't want my FH feeling like I've planned every last detail of the wedding, up to and including what HE will be doing on the day of, and he's always good about setting his alarm, shaving and dressing nicely for work (so I don't have ANY worries about how he'll look on the big day).

It's actually my brother and his brother that I'm worried about time-wise ... if I write down anything it will be a short-but-sweet checklist so he knows what he or the bros need to remember to bring. I already told them what time they should check into the hotel (where we'll do ceremony and reception), so they can do all the final prep stuff there ... and maybe our photographers will catch them in the act. ;-)

Good idea to think about it though! Definitely worth discussing just so he's not caught off guard the week of or something.
