Grooms Cake

Lauren Ashley, on March 22, 2016 at 6:17 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

Who does the grooms cake? And is it served at rehearsal or wedding? I've always believed it to be done by grooms family at rehearsal dinner but I've seen it served at weddings as well and paid for by the bride.

Honestly, not sure what proper etiquette is for them, but at my FBIL wedding last year it was served at the rehearsal dinner and his parents paid for it.

It can be served at the RD, or at the wedding as a complement to the 'main' cake. I'm hoping to have it at our wedding, since I don't want to do cake 2 nights in a row, and the groom's cake will be so cool we want more than just the RD folks to see it!

I'm taking care of it and we're serving it at the Rehearsal Dinner. I'm not sure if there's any proper etiquette to it.

I'm surprising my FH with a grooms cake at the wedding. I'm doing it in UT which coincidently matches our wedding colors. It's his favorite sec team!

My FMIL is paying for the grooms cake, and we are serving it at the RD the night before.

To be honest, I had never heard of a groom's cake until recently and thought it sounded like a good thing. I didn't want to serve it at the wedding, so I'm paying for it and it will be dessert at the rehearsal dinner.

I paid for a special grooms cake for DH. Our main cake and his cake. Guess which one is which and where he's from.

We paid for both and both cakes will be at the reception. We are both getting married, so why wouldn't we show them off!

Traditionally, at least where I am from, the grooms cake is supposed to be part of the gift to the groom from the bride. It's supposed to show that she knows his interests and wanted him to have something special on that day to reflect it. I will be getting my FH a grooms cake and we will probably do it at the RD.

I think it can be served at either. Honestly, I feel like at the wedding it would go to waste so if I did one, I would do it at the RD!

My FH loves peanut butter and chocolate and cheesecake haha this is a cheesecake covered in chocolate and peanut butter cups. I am secretly having his cake made by our cake vendor and serving it to him at the wedding.
