Are you doing a groom's cake for your FH? A groom's cake traditionally is a gift from the bride to the groom that reflects his personality and interests in his favorite cake flavor. I was thinking about having it at the rehearsal dinner instead of the wedding, I feel like they are just for show at the wedding and no one eats from it.

My sister brought this up and I had no idea this was a thing. I may or may not do it but it's a nice gesture since I picked out our wedding cake flavors lol!

No grooms cake for us. Only saw this in a movie but never been to a wedding with one.

Grooms cake is a norm for us in Alabama. Our baker did one in the shape and detail of the Crimson Tide stadium. My FMIL is doing his entire table as a gift to her baby boy!

I'm not. But only because we are traveling. Our rehearsal dinner is on Saturday at 5:30 and we can't actually check into our beach house (where RD is) until 4-6. We are so hoping to get in at 4. So it's just too much. Besides, I just made a cake for our buddies birthday this Thursday, and we are doing a cake the day after our wedding for our friend and his mom's birthday. Too much cake!

I am surprising my FH with a groom's cake in his favorite flavor from our cake tasting, pear ginger spice with cinnamon cream cheese frosting. We ended up picking different flavors for our wedding cake based on what we both, and our moms, really loved at the tasting, so I know he will love this surprise Smiley smile This is what it will look like, minus the candles. He is a HUGE Cowboys fan! I am also painting a football silver with our wedding date on it that will be used during the garter toss/throw and displayed on the grooms cake table.

9/10 times, I eat the groom's cake over the actual wedding cake. Those are always my favorite!

I am making one for my groom. A Faux cake, just for pictures etc. of his favorite team. We have a wedding cake an Viennese hour so, no one will want to eat it.

We aren't. Both of our personalities are reflected throughout all of our wedding purchases.

We didn't do a groom's cake. We had a midmorning wedding with brunch and cake.

Then we had a catered after party at our family ranch with assorted desserts.

He wouldn't have wanted a "him" cake, he wanted an "us" cake. So we picked our wedding cake style and flavors together

That is all my fiance wants out of the wedding. So I'm making sure to have one. But it's also going to be vanilla, because he hates chocolate cake.

I'm doing surprise rehearsal dinner cupcakes. Half in his favorite flavor decorated for the St Louis Cardinals (his team), half in my favorite flavor decorated for the Chicago Cubs (my team).

My mom was weirdly insistent on having a way too big cake at the reception, so I didn't want to do anything extra for that.

@MrsFall, it's always cut and served with the wedding cake. We are inviting 130 people; the actual wedding cake will feed 100 and the grooms cake will feed about 50.

I would like to but I'm sure if it's in the budget for us, tbh.

We are combining the two cakes. His will be decorated in things he likes and the other side will be more in theme for our wedding. The photo is similar to what we are going to do.

We're not having a groom's cake cause that's not a thing in my area, plus we might have different flavored tiers in our wedding cake anyway. We might do mini Jamaican black cake (rum cake) as favors, so yay, more cake!

We are having a groomscake because my FH is from Texas where it's a thing. Our baker in Vegas said some people don't cut and serve the groomscake, which is so weird! What am I going to do with all that cake? We will have an option of standard wedding cake (lemon and raspberry buttercream) or groomscake (chocolate with coffee buttercream). I refuse to call the other one a brides cake. For some reason my FH thinks the cake should just be cut and people can walk up and grab a slice. I told him hell no - I'm paying for cutting and serving and it will be served damn it!

No way. I've definitely seen some cute ones, but I can't get behind the added, unnecessary expense. Our cake is included in our package (otherwise we didn't even know if we'd have one) So we will just pick it together and call it good. I also know FH would rather have something else asa gift, or to have that money go towards.
