Groom's Cake

Jameena, on July 20, 2017 at 12:24 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 47

Are you doing a groom's cake for your FH? A groom's cake traditionally is a gift from the bride to the groom that reflects his personality and interests in his favorite cake flavor. I was thinking about having it at the rehearsal dinner instead of the wedding, I feel like they are just for show at the wedding and no one eats from it.

My sister brought this up and I had no idea this was a thing. I may or may not do it but it's a nice gesture since I picked out our wedding cake flavors lol!

We did a groom's cake so our guests would have another choice in cake flavor, it definitely wasn't considered a "gift" from me to him.

I have a grooms cake because it was included with my cake. My FH made it all chocolate since our main cake is strawberry and white

I am actually making mine for FH (I do a lot of baking and cake design on the side, made several wedding cakes) as a surprise for him. I will be giving it to him at the rehearsal dinner rather than the wedding just because of logistics.

It's not necessarily a "grooms" cake but we are doing a different cake at the RD.

Nope. My FH got the top layer of the cake (since the bakery will make us a duplicate for our 1st anniversary). Chocolate and banana....I won't touch it with a 10 foot pole! haha

We had a grooms cake, he was surprised with it when ourselves and the photographer went to see the dinner room and take photos with the cake. The doc brought it out and photographer caught it. He was very surprised and loved it. We had the cake the following night at the next day party. It was a chocolate cake in the shape of a chocolate box.

I wasn't going to, but apparently my friend -- a huge British Bake Off fan -- has decided to do one for my FH.

    (Captain America's shield, of course.)

We are going to have a groom's cake. I plan on having it cut at the wedding. Several weddings I have been to have not cut it at the reception which left me wondering what did they do with all that cake? Lol

I've never seen a grooms cake but it sounds kind of cool.

We will probably have one. I've only seen a groom's cake once and it was pretty sweet (back to the future themed) and it was given to him at the wedding reception. But, since we're planning cupcakes at our reception, I'm thinking a groom's cake is a good idea. Smiley smile

I'm surprising FH with a fudge marble groom's cake decorated with his competition barbecue team's logo.

Yes! We're not having a RD, so we will have a lot of cake! LOL

I'm planning to have bags or boxes so guests can take a slice home.

I got my FH a vegan coconut cake. It supposed to be decorated with the Falcons emblem because that is his favorite thing in the world. It would have been strawberry but it's out of season. Bummer. But it sounds good what you're doing.

I did one!! The theme was our favorite baseball team and I had personalized bobbleheads made to use as a topper.

I would ask your FH. Most weddings i have been to had one. I ask my FH and he didn't even know what it was. When I explained it to him he said, "No I don't want that. That sounds like a waste of money."
