Starla, on May 10, 2017 at 2:42 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

What is appropriate for a groom to change into after the ceremony. We are getting married near the Lake in Oklahoma it is humid and hot in September. Wedding start at 6 pm

Thank You for your ideas.

He must suffer. Jk are you changing too? Is the reception casual?

Take off his jacket and roll up his sleeves?

If it is too hot to be comfortable in standard attire like a suit or tux, it is too hot to have things outdoors. Move it to a climate controlled space.

@StPaulGal nailed it. I seriously doubt your guests will bring a change of clothes, so it's not appropriate for your groom (a host of the event) to change into non-standard wedding attire. If it's too hot for your groom (or you), you need to move your wedding events indoors.

I just don't get the whole concept of changing after the ceremony- brides or grooms. You spend a fortune to host the biggest event of your lives including your dress and his tux or suit. Why would you immediately want to look like you are attending a casual event?

If the wedding dress is too hot, I suggest the bride should take that into consideration when shopping and choose something more lightweight.

If a suit or tuxedo is too hot, it is fine for the men to take off the jacket and roll up their sleeves at the reception. Or, the men could wear a linen or cotton (seersucker) suit that is meant to be worn in hotter climates.

He should probably just take his jacket off and roll up the sleeves. Still in the formal wear but more comfortable.
