Groom and Groomsman match or no match?

bPm 2015, on January 10, 2015 at 1:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

Should our groomsman wear periwinkle bow ties with to match the bridesmaids dresses or should they stick to black?? FH is wearing a black bow tie and white pocket square. FH really likes the idea of peri bow ties. Another option is everyone in black bow ties and have groomsman wear peri pocket squares. I have no idea, I'm going to the store to play around with colors, but would this look totally tacky in photos? HELP! What are you all doing?

I like the idea of matching the BM with the ties and pocket squares. That also makes them stand out from other guests who might be dressed similarly (like in a black suit).

This is how I'm coordinating them. My MOH is wearing navy so my best man will wear a navy tie, the jr BM (FH's daughter) is wearing guava, so FH will wear a guava tie. MOH and jr BM will carry mango calla lily bouquets to match the bout of the best man and I will carry white and FH's bout will be white. I think the idea of coordination.

Mine is probably very weird. All of my bridesmaids will be wearing different shades of purple. The groomsmen are all wearing mint vests and ties. They aren't coordinated at all. It will probably be a mess, but a nice mess. Smiley smile

We are matching our groomsmens ties to the bridesmaids dresses.

I don't like the idea of the black ties with the periwinkle pocket squares. Are you doing boutonnières in addition to the pocket squares?

I don't think black bow ties would go with a periwinkle pocket square. I would do bow tie and pocket square in periwinkle. It also will clearly distinguish your groom in photos. My DH and groomsmen had identical suits and ivory waistcoats, but DH had an ivory cravat and pocket square and his groomsmen had sage. DH also had a slightly different boutonnière, but in the same colours.

I can tell you only what i did, not what you SHOULD do. I don't like matchymatchy so did not try to match the GM to the BMs, but my husband wanted to stand out as different from the guys, which I agreed with. all guys had black tuxes with black suspenders. GM wore black bowties and DH wore white bow tie. it was very classy and I'm very happy I kept the color off the guys
