Greenery or Flowers More Expensive?

Bloop, on January 23, 2019 at 5:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
What is more expensive greenery or flowers for a wedding? I read online a while ago that greenery was cheaper but my wedding planner said recently the greenery will cost more than if I were to get the same amount of flowers... anyone have a nice lucious greenery wedding and compare with the cost of flowers? Which one ended up costing more?

We are are not doing florist or any flowers to save money. Look around for local gardens who have days you can pick your own. Will be cheaper and support your local business owners

This depends on the greenery and how you plan to use it. If you want to use it as garlands, then those are usually more expensive than flowers because they are more labor intensive to put together. They range in price from $15 per foot all the way up to about $25 per foot. I had garlands and they cost me around $900. However, if you just want loose greenery placed here and there throughout the tables, then that is usually less expensive than flowers.

I am not a flower person at all but I can tell you for my wedding we did flower centerpieces on round tables and seeded eucalyptus on long 8’ tables. Both cost $160ish per table. Flowers from what I understand can be cheaper if you get in season or more common flowers.

Exactly this, for us it was more how the greenery was going to be used and the fact that you tend to need more of it to achieve the effect.

I think it depends on the type of greenery and flowers. I would suggest to shop around and find the cheapest place. Some places sell bulk flowers for a reasonable price but you need to make the decoration on your own.

I forgot to add a picture of what the garland looked like that we used. We used it to drape over the pews at the church for the ceremony and then moved it to the reception to use as centerpieces.

So beautiful! I'm also planning to do garlands and candles. I didn't realize they would be as expensive as flowers so that's a good heads up!

Very pretty!! I just got the quote back and found out that the actual greenery is less after reviewing it verses same amount of flowers. I think our planner was trying to make us change our mind and therefore we would end up spending more on flowers. We stuck with greenery for most of it.
