Grandparents first dance at my wedding

GreektoIrish2017, on January 24, 2017 at 9:05 AM Posted in Planning 0 16

This year is my grandparents 50 year anniversary. They got married when they were 16. My grandma tells me the story of how their parents took them to the courthouse then afterwards they went to the diner and had chocolate milk. Now that I'm planning my own wedding my grandma says how she wishes she could do something for her anniversary like a little wedding or whatever but she can't. I was thinking maybe at our wedding after FH and I have our first dance I could make an announcement how it's my grandparents 50th anniversary year and since they never got the chance to have a first dance I'd like them to have the floor. I haven't told her about it because I want it to be a surprise. Does this sound like a good idea or would our guests be wondering what the heck are we doing?

I would love to see this as a guest. Would both of them like a surprise though? Maybe give them a headsup if they aren't ones for the spot light.

Oh yes they always dance in public. They don't mind. I've been unsure about the guests would think

I have a super close relationship with my grandma, so I always love seeing other people who are just as fond of their grandparents as I am. As a guest, I would love to see this happen. I think it's an excellent way to honor your grandparents.

Thank you for all of your input. I'm definitely going to do it! I think she'd be so happy.

I don't know what song to pick. My grandpa likes oldies and my grandma likes country

They like slow dancing. Those songs Kate R suggested sound nice. Maybe I can ask her somehow without giving the surprise away. Good idea
