Grandparents at rehearsal?

Jessica, on July 29, 2015 at 8:12 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

Are your grandparents attending your rehearsal? We were planning on having ours come so they'll know how the processional will go. And of course inviting them to the dinner following. Well my grandma booked their flights and they won't have enough time to get from the airport to the venue to be there on time for the rehearsal (even though I told her the time but oh well). I'm thinking it's not a big deal but just wondering if grandparents usually attend.

All of my grandparents have passed..FH only has 1 grandmother left, she won't be coming. The only people attending the rehearsal are the wedding party (their SO are welcome to be there as well, or just meet us for dinner after).

    ETA: I can't english today.

Why do they need to know? The venue coordinator will line everyone up and send them down the aisle. It's pretty easy......

The only one coming is FH's grandmother - his remaining grandfather/my grandmother can't make it due to age.

Pretty self explanatory though, especially if they are being escorted - they can guide them. It will be fine Smiley smile

Since their flights are already booked, it appears the question is OBE (overcome by events).

Sometimes they go, sometimes they don't. My husband's grandfather was planning on attending and had to bail. I hadn't even met him until about 10 minutes before we all walked down the aisle. We all survived. Smiley smile

That's kind of what I thought but I asked our coordinator and she said they should try to attend. I think I'll just have them meet us at dinner unless they really want to be there.

My grandparents are coming because they are very involved in the planning process. But FH grandparents are 20 years older than mine so they will not be coming to the rehersal. One of his gmas has cancer so we are hoping she will make it to the wedding.

We were going to have grandparents come since the rehearsal dinner is right after rehearsal down the street, but logistically it is tough because 2 of them don't drive and we won't all be going home after dinner. FHs one set of grandparents live about an hour away and most likely won't want to travel 2 nights in a row. We just aren't going to have them attend either the rehearsal nor the dinner. I'm sad they won't be at dinner but I'm glad they will all be there for the wedding Smiley smile

My parents, the bridal party, the officiant and his wife, FHs mom, will all be there. My (not)aunts from far away will be helping set up that night, so they probably will stick around and then eat with us. I think thats about it tho. Maybe a few more? Not sure i probably wont know until that night

I don't think they need to be at the rehearsal, especially if getting there will be an issue logistically. Are your grandparents in your processional? Mine weren't, but if yours are, that would be the only reason I would think they would need to be there.
