Hi everyone! I recently visited GLL’s New York bridal flagship and fell in love with the Bonita! Before I purchase the dress, I’d like to understand whether I am looking at customs/import duties for the dress and if so, how much. Does anyone have experience with getting a GLL gown shipped from their Australian dressmaking studio to the US? Did you pay customs/import duties, and in what amount? The US and Australia do have a Free Trade Agreement that exempts textiles in certain cases, so maybe it applies? I will likely give the CPB a call in the next week to hopefully get clarity, but I’d also love to get some intel on this forum!

I would think since you are ordering from a retail shop in the US, that wouldn’t apply. Maybe you can call the shop and ask. Surely they would know.

Thanks, bee! Those are good suggestions! GLL only has showrooms in the US, so customers don’t order through the US. Gowns are made in Australia and shipped to you directly. Their website therefore notes that duties for orders shipped to the US might apply. But you’re right I need to call their customer service and see if they can tell me more. I presume they might not share specifics with me b/c that’s legal advice.
