FH and I are big on grace. We don't do it when we eat out, but at home, we basically just list all the things we're grateful for, including the food on our plate. In my family, at holidays and other gatherings, it's always tradition for the youngest to say grace. At my wedding, that will be my cousin's daughter who is 12. She has graciously accepted the challenge, but now I have to come up with a nice prayer for her to say. Anyone else saying grace? Are you using something traditional? or do you have something more personal. I'd love to plagiarize if I could.

Chantel - I can't remember if the Bible ever actually mentions the couples names in Cana but it was the wedding that Jesus turned the water into wine when the couple ran out of wine for their guests.

    Our officiant will do ours.

I was asked to lead the prayer at a friend's reception. I did a very simple one:

    Dear Heavenly Father:

We are here now to celebrate the love of the new Mr. & Mrs. Smith on their wedding. We come together with them to celebrate their marriage and their commitment to You with this bountiful meal that has been prepare for this righteous moment.

We thank You for Your Holy blessing today upon their marriage, and pray You bless them with Your love, mercy and kindness throughout their life as husband and wife, father and mother.

We thank You for Your Holy blessing upon this meal and continue to bless the hands that prepared and those who serve. Bless every family represented and continue peace, joy and comfort upon every life they encounter.

Then I asked the guests to recite Psalm 23. And we all said Amen!

Wedding Prayer by Robt. Louis Stevenson

“Lord, behold our family here assembled. We thank you for the place in which we dwell, for the love that unites us, for the peace accorded us this day, for the hope with which we expect the morrow, for the health, the work, the food, and the bright skies that make our lives delightful, for our friends in all parts of the earth. Amen.”

Yes, we will be saying grace. I had assumed my officiant will still be around to do it. But thanks to you all, I think it would be nice to ask my dad's first cousin who is the pastor at my hometown church to include him.

Yours was beautiful Bunny Love! Nancy T, that's nice as well.

We always say grace even when out in public. FH hubby leads it. Our officiant is saying grace at the reception.
