Good News - Maybe?

Margaret, on July 14, 2020 at 6:40 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 25
So we had an appointment with our MD this afternoon and he asked about our wedding, we stressed concern over Covid and with a medical opinion he basically assured us our feelings that even with the spike now it should be back to normal by September and we should have little to no concern

I wouldn't go so far as to say there would be no concern but i think we can all try to hope for the best, that's for sure.

Hmm..that’s incredibly optimistic. I hope for your sake and everyone else’s that he’s right, but I would still consider a backup plan.

Thats a stretch. I mean you can gather safely but saying Covid will be gone in less than 8 weeks is crazy

My MD just talked to me on the phone regarding my annual check up and covid. He thinks it’s going to take another half or even a year to get better ☹️

Girl I think we have a whole year of this thing. I am a teacher and the way we are opening back up has me prepared to be remote all next year.

I think that’s delusionally optimistic. I’m in Australia, where things are fairly well under control (at least, a whole lot better than the USA) and I’m not expecting things to be anywhere near normal before the end of the year. I wouldn’t count your chickens before they’re hatched.

If things are back to normal by September, I will run laps around my neighborhood naked. And that's a bet I would happily lose. Smiley laugh

My doctors have been telling me the opposite. I’m due with a baby in September and we aren’t even sure if our families will be able to meet the baby because it might not be safe.

You're getting married in FL. Take that with a grain of salt. Schools go back in August and I foresee cases going up so just have a back up plan for the day of. Cases are rising and I doubt within two months it will be better. I hate to be the barer of bad news but I wanna be real. Keep your date but make COVID friendly plans to keep you and your guests safe.

I agree with Caytlyn in him being very optimistic bug, definitely consider a plan B. Remember we are all in the mist of a second wave. Best wishes! Smiley shame

Congrats! At least we have video chat and are easily able to share pictures, but it’s totally not the same thing ☹️.

I’d really like to be optimistic! My daughter has her five year wellness exam next week and I’m going to talk to her doctor about our school’s plan.

My dad is an MD and I also work on Covid response for the government. The fact is, nobody has any clue what the timeline will really be. Some people are more optimistic than others, but so many models and predictions have been totally wrong. I think the safest prediction is that we will be closer to herd immunity and in a better medical position by next summer.

Actually we're still in the midst of the first wave. The first wave didn't end before everyone gave up on distancing and case numbers and death rates started to rise again. This is still considered part of the first wave.

I meant second wave coming but it cut off. Also meant but not bug (auto correct it happens) 😂Even then just alone in the first wave our numbers have increased drastically. So it’s not looking too good for the fall or winter. I’m not discouraging you, you simply just said he said little to no concern but if we look around even other pestilences that are going around in other countries. There is a lot to worry about and not only that economy wise we are going under because of the shut downs but it’s for everyone’s safety and health. Best wishes and I hope everything with your wedding will be great no matter what the outcome is 🥰

Likewise, I’m even considering depending in January - March postponing our wedding again well the celebration portion because it’s really not looking well. People don’t understand that medically speaking a vaccination can take anywhere between 2 at most 3-5 years to fully develop it well for everyone. Our best chance is really herd immunity. We truly don’t know much and we are all learning it together day by day. Just taking precautions can definitely help lower the risk but the fact is the virus isn’t going away just like that as much as we all want it to. It’s going to take time and adjustments from everyone but many just don’t want to. Wearing a simple mask is a struggle. My heart just goes to everyone who has passed away from Covid and struggling with it. My fiancé’s entire family tested positive Recently quarantined and now tested negative 2x but for our safety and my nephews we have to stay away for some time. 😔 wish everyone well. It’s not easy going through this pandemic but we all will together 🤍✨

He didn't say we'd have Covid cured, he said we should have little to no worries for our wedding as planned. We all know that Masks will be a part of our new future, and covid will be here for a minute or longer.
