Going Vegan (ish)

John Smith, on February 24, 2020 at 8:34 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 9

I'm going vegan (+eggs) for a month to see what happens!

I'm not overweight by any means, and I go to the gym at least 5x a week, but I'm trying to lose those last 10 lbs and they tend to be the most stubborn! I've also been struggling with a relapse in Lyme Disease, and I know diet plays a big part in how my body handles that.

I'm about 130 days out from the wedding and I just want to feel my best!

Is anyone else trying out a new diet leading up to their big day?

I wouldn't say I'm trying a new diet, I'm just making better food decisions and working on my arms for the wedding day!

I also did vegan after I got engaged. I've been a vegetarian for 15 years and I had always wanted to try going vegan so I thought why not go for it. Honestly I love it. The transition was easier than I thought, I've felt so much better and I've even lost some weight. I feel like the biggest difference is that I think so much more about what I'm putting into my body. But Vegan does not always mean healthy so its important to find that balance.

Just make sure you’re getting enough protein and enough healthy fats! Vegan can be very healthy but only if you do it right.

I'm obsessed with Avocados so healthy fats shouldn't be an issue haha. Lots of beans and lentils! I've never cooked with Tofu before but I may give it a shot too.

Yeah I've seen a lot of unhealthy vegan and vegetarian diets. I naturally stay away from overly processed foods and sugars, and I cook all my own food, so hopefully I can do it well!

You may not even need eggs if you scramble tofu. I’m not vegan nor vegetarian but I tried it like that and was good!

I didn't go on a diet, but my husband and I cut out things like soda, coffee creamer, unhealthy snacks, and dessert. We made healthier decisions and ate at home for almost every meal. It helped with not only weight loss but my skin health too.

Do what works best for you. When my friend first went vegan she lost weight and her blood work improved. Five years later, the weight crept back (she wasn’t carbing out) and added a little protein back in for extra vitamins and she lost weight again. Seems like a balancing act.

I'm doing a loose version of Whole30 right now. I'm still really far away from my wedding but I do this every so often so I can "reset".
