Going to Universal Studios as part of Honeymoon Trip?

Olga, on May 11, 2021 at 3:14 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9

I was wondering if anyone else has went to an amusement park during their honeymoon? Me and my fiance are planning to go to Miami, Florida for our honeymoon and I was thinking of surprising him with a day at Universal Studios. It is 3 hours away from our place where we are staying at and we aren't staying overnight so it will be 6 hours of total driving that day. Is it worth going through all of that or should we just lay it off after the honeymoon?

I think this depends on the type of vacationers you are! My FH and I are doing a Disney/Universal honeymoon, but both of us like to be moving and doing things vs. sitting back and relaxing. If you are both into sitting back and relaxing, maybe skip Universal. However, if you really have an urge to go, do it! There's a lot to do at Universal, multiple parks, so you won't be bored. Just keep in mind there will be a 6 hour drive round trip if you do go, so that's a long day.

My husband and I went to California for our honeymoon and we went to Disney, the Zoo, Hollywood and Sea World. It was a ton of fun! I had never been to California and I always wanted to go. It was also my first time at Disney. My husband has gone to Disney in Florida numerous times, but never in California so we both enjoyed it.

I live in Miami. Thats a long drive to make after a day in the parks on a good day. Traffic is terrible and it can turn into a 4+ hour drive very quickly. I would try to stay overnight if you can.

Other than that it sounds like a fun surprise!

We love doing things and not sitting around, so maybe we won’t since it is a super long drive to the amusement park. That’s 6 hours skipped on something more exciting and fun!

Hmm, I would do that too and my mom told me the same (to book a place overnight) but we have already payed for a pricey place that’s well over 250+ a night so I would think we are wasting money. Maybe next time we will go there!

I agree with Apryl. I’m from about an hour and a half north of Miami and have had 3+ hour drives to Orlando (and not even the disney area).

Since you like doing stuff you should look into John Pennekamp park. They have amazing snorkeling! We have also done something called a “sea bob” which is a cross between snorkeling and scuba diving.

Unless you are HUGE roller coaster people... not worth a 3 hour drive one way.

And we went to Disney/Universal for our honeymoon. I LOVED HP world, but I hate roller coasters, and the food at Universal is ... so-so at best. We got much better value for our money at Disney, and had more fun and things to do.

If you combined it with a Disney trip, and/or spent more than a day there, sure... but 6 hours of driving for a few hours of standing in line for roller coasters?

    Meh.

Can you extend your trip by a day or two and go to Universal at the end? This way you can spend the day at the park and not have to worry about the long drive back or wasting money by booking another hotel room for the night. If not, then at least now you have an excuse to go on a vacation!
