Hi all,

Has anyone gone dress shopping alone? How'd it go?

I am considering this because I tend to go shopping by myself anyways. I feel more comfortable this way. My mother, My sister, and I went dress shopping for my sister's wedding and my sister was disappointed that my mother never gave the "this is her dress" reaction like we see on say Yes to the dress shows. My mother is also the type to guilt trip and I don't want to disappoint her in any choices that I make.

I also want the experience of going shopping with my mom and wedding party BUT I'll be at college for the next 9 months and 4 hours away from everyone. It'll just be hard to get everyone together for it.

I am going with my mom and grandmother only. They are/were the only important women in my life for a very long time. So I really want to share the moment with just them. I now have my furture MIL and my FI aunt and I am super close with them now too so they will come to my first fitting.

Go for it. You should go by yourself. You can always go back a second or third time with your mom.

I have an appointment for next week, and I am going alone. I am not even telling anyone. I am looking forward to the experience and getting a better idea of I like and what looks good on me, without the distractions. My FMIL will be disappointed (my mother passed), but I have decided that this is MY time.

I am planning to have my mom's dress remade so I don't have to search, even though it is still a secret, but if I was in your situation ( because I to LOVE shopping by myself) I would go alone, pick it out, and bring who ever you want to the either the first dress fitting and ask what changes they think would look good, or the last fitting when all is said and done and wear your veil.

I bought a dress out of spite of my mother when she got mad that I went alone. Ended up hating it, gaining lots of weight and having to buy a new one that I actually liked. I wish I had gone just me and my MOH the first time. The Second dress I did not make that mistake and just took my MOH and got something I loved.
