I don't think it is too much at all. We are doing a sand ceremony with the children and a Love Letter/ Wine Box ceremony.

Jumping the Broom is tradition and doesnt warrant much time at all. That is at the end of your ceremony anyway. So saying a short prayer would work just perfectly. I went to a coworker's wedding and they were Catholic and they did something similar. I love the idea. I might have to take this idea for myself. This is such a wonderful idea Toni-Marie. I say go for it! Where would I find this 3-strand cord? I guess I can google it right? HeHeHe!

I'm doing them both , they mean different things. The Cord of three strand has the same meaning as a unity candle or sand ceremony. And that's the only place you can buy them from , their is also a shadow box you can purchase to store it in after.

@ Mrs Hodges-- What is the shadow box?

To put the strands in after the wedding . I didn't get the one online, I got mine from Hobby Lobby for 15.00. I also plan to put the meaning card in with it. Here is an example of it inside the box.

The cord of three strands ceremony can also serve as a substitute for the unity candle. This is useful for situations where candles may not be used, or may be difficult, as a substitute in outside weddings.

The bride and groom braid the strands together, symbolizing the union of God, husband and wife.

Speaking for myself I didn't want to go cheap with something like this. Even though it's too late, I have already bought it . Then on top of that BBB don't have the purple color.
