Godiva for gifts or favors

im thinking about this, i think it would be nicer than spending half the money on a common carboard box with ribbon only to put cheap candy into it. http://www.godiva.com/subcategory/wedding-party-favors/chocolate-favors/id/158.gdv

So, i just found out that godiva makes their chocolate on the east coast and everything is shipped to the boutique.

now im thinking that i really want fresh locally made fine chocolate and here is one local chocolatier. It is fine venezuelan chocolate.

Def go with the local chocolatier! I looked into doing the Godiva, but then remembered a small family owned candy shop that makes fantastic candies. I went and priced them out and their prices were amazing, less than half what I had budget for favors. They were happy to work with me because of the big order and it was nice to keep the money I was spending local. They did a lot of personalizing for me for not very much money. The favors turned out to be a hit and Im so glad I chose them!

there is something about exotic chocolates that I favor, i think half the pleasure of having fresh chocolate is knowing how rare and exotic it is in addition to the taste, so i'm leaning toward chocolate cartel. they recently moved their operations to my city.. i have to make an appt with them though. they say they do custom items for wedddings. i love the Godiva chocolates too, but knowing they are shipped from across the country .. they are starting to feel like you know, a strip mall item, a chain.

Also, i would like to note that i read on one of those wedding sites from the bridal magazines that "chocolates" at the reception is one of the big DOs and "must haves" and im not talking about chocolate covered almonds that you buy in bulk at the party store.. dont know how long theyve been sitting on the shelf.. just fyi
