Give me your best honeymoon ideas please!

Hey everyone!

We have had a hell of a time getting wedding plans set. Lots of crazy things have happened and our plans have been changed a million and one times. As of right now, we still don't know what we're doing for our wedding so we're wanting to focus on something a little more fun, the honeymoon! We plan to get married December 5th, 2020 and are looking at beginning our honeymoon on Dec. 7th (our 5 year anniversary!). We want to go somewhere tropical and out of the US. We really don't want to do a cruise since I've never been on one and am too scared my honeymoon would be the time I'd find out I'm not a boat person. Our budget is between $5-6,000. Any ideas? Any married ladies have a honeymoon of their dreams matching our criteria that you wanna share? Also, do you feel it's more beneficial or less to work with a travel agent?

What kind of things do you want to do? I love travelling, it’s my passion. Especially tropical! One of my favourite, affordable places is Jamaica. The food, music, culture, beaches, scenery, and smells. I find we can go as affordable as 4500 for the 2 of us and a nicer resort for 6-8000. I don’t feel I need a travel agent per say, but sometimes they can see rooms or options you can’t see yourself. If your looking to save money, a package all inclusive is good. If your looking for culture and a smaller resort, avoid travel agents in my opinion

Best place to travel around that time is the Carribean! We booked our honeymoon for February 2021 at Sandals in Antigua! It was right within your budget that you are aiming for too. Check it out!

I went to Asia ! That is super economical but I do have to say cause of covid 19, I’m not sure how international travel will be. But travel to Asia is always so affordable once you’re there especially to southeast Asian countries

Lots of places that time of year are cheaper. I love the Caribbean. Just about any island will be great. If you’re drinkers make sure it’s all inclusive.

I know you're so excited to go on your honeymoon, but it's very uncertain as to when international travel will resume, and what restrictions will exist.

I would certainly do a lot of research, but try to pandemic-proof your plans by making sure nothing is non-refundable. Could you do a honeymoon next year? Maybe make it an anniversary trip, too?

Go to an all inclusive!! I like the ones in the Mayan Riviera. I also love using my travel agent because she does ALL the work, so I don't have to worry about a thing.

Our wedding is in November of this year and we originally had a cruise planned but with all the COVID stuff going on I opted for plan B

We are doing 5 nights in St. Lucia at Sandals resort. They have 3 in St. Lucia. We are going to Regency La Toc. We did a club level room ( which is right below butler level) and it ran us $3200.00 The plane tickets can be a bit pricey about $1400 round trip. Sandals are all inclusive, with drinks, food and some water activities. ( and our location also has an 9 hole golf course, which is a plus for us!) Ohhh... and gratuity is included in your price ( minus the butler tips) You have access to all three resorts, 2 locations are with in 15 min of each other. They have more expensive rooms with Butler services and such but check out their site and see what you think.... Many locations on many of the Caribbean Islands.... That one was just the best choice for us.

P.S. Make sure you get travel insurance. I did read Sandals isn't the best with refunds or rescheduling. Our insurance ran us about $250.00

I would start looking soon - a lot of places are already fully booked for December (in my recent experience). Agree with Rebecca, I'd hold off on an international trip until things are more certain. If you are set on international, Mexico would probably be the best option under these circumstances.
