After searching everywhere for a dress, I'm thinking of drastically changing my mother's dress. I'm just not sure how to turn an A-line Halter dress into a Fit to Flare Strapless dress.

I have the same dress and also want to change it to a zipper. Did u have David's do it or did u go elsewhere? How much did it cost?

I went elsewhere for my alterations. I had quite a bit done so I wanted to find someone who I felt confident could do them well. I found a highly rated seamstress who worked out of her home. She was wonderful. I don't know how much just the corset to zipper alteration was, but I know my total alterations cost was $493. Which included the corset to zipper swap, hemming, multi-point bustle, removal of the sewn in rhinestone belt and creation of a custom ribbon sash with portion of removed rhinestones. So I imagine just the corset to zipper swap wasn't too much.

I don't know what it was called and I don't have a good picture of it, I'm sorry. :/ It was similar to this one. It was multiple hook points that basically just pinned my skirt up to remove the train but keep the shape of the skirt. It was 5 or 7 points, I think. Something like that.
