Girls who drastically altered their dresses... or not ;)

Finally mrs.jkr, on May 6, 2015 at 7:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 26

I know many ladies here found there dream dress... But I found a dream cocoon that became my dress! Mine was strapless, so I completely changed the neckline and went 1 size up from the suggested underskirts... Also added a belt Smiley tongue really I'm just so stoked I want to post it all over town! It finally feels like the dress I was dreaming of!

Ahh I'm so excited to see the finished product! I remember you posting your halfway done dress before and I couldn't wait to see it.

Your neckline looks a lot like mine, it's gorgeous!

I remember seeing your mockup and vision--it turned out beautifully! I'm glad it worked out how you wanted, as I recall you being a bit nervous (as I would have been too, certainly).

I completely changed the back of mine from a button covered zipper back to a corset back with a couple buttons....there was more I was going to do and add, but decided against it at my first fitting last month

Damn Maltese! *whistles* Good choice going with the corset.

MrsWade, I love the tea length look on you.

I didn't alter the appearance of my dress... just had to take the sides in a lot at the waist to fit properly.

I didn't have to do a thing to my dress. I was so in love. I wanted corset allllllllll my life but never thought I'd be able to a) afford it, b) fit in it, c) like it.

I love her still & I wish I could wear her again! I had her preserved so I didn't walk around the house wearing her EVERYDAY!

The only major alteration i did was convert the corset back to a zipper back. i hate corsets but fell in love with my dress despite of it. oh, i also removed the sewn on rhinestone belt that went all the way around and my seamstress made me a custom ribbon sash with just a front portion of the original rhinestones. it was perfect.

first pic is of the original corset back and you can see the back of the rhinestone belt that went all the way around to the back.

second and third pic is the new zipper back and custom sash.

I am having about 6 inches chopped off mine so that it's not too long, but keeping all of the train in tact. I don't have pics and I haven't seen it yet as it's still being finished. I can't wait to see it I just hope they were able to save the decorations on the bottom of the skirt.

Such a cute dress date twin Smiley smile I'm drastically changing my dress... but that's because it's an 80's dress and no one wants to see those sleeves lol
