Gifts for ushers and extra people

Charla, on March 3, 2015 at 3:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

So, I've got everything figured out for my BM and FH's GM, but I'm not sure what to get the ushers and a couple other ladies I have working the guest book (quilt) table and handing out programs before the ceremony.

The GM's gifts are alcohol related and the ushers are under 21. The BM's gifts will be useful for us as we get ready and the "usher" ladies I have won't be getting their makeup done and all that done with us.

So, I need help and suggestions. What should I get these other members of our wedding party?

Everyone loves chocolate! Or nice coffee. Or a sincere thank you note and a gift card. Alternatively, you presumably know these people pretty well. Set a budget and find something that suits each of them individually.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies. Gift cards are a great idea.

I just didn't want to spend too much on gifts for them.

I don't really understand the need for all these gifts...my gf who is getting married in April and I were discussing this the other day because she was stressing out about all the gifts she needed to buy. Why do the bride and groom need to buy each other gifts, parent gifts, BM and GM gifts, usher gifts etc. Seems like a lot...Sometimes it makes sense, like giving a gift to a parent or family member who contributed a lot, and I'll probably even do BM gifts as a "thank you for standing with me" gesture even though I've never expected anything like that when I was a BM. Gifts for all these other people just seem a tad excessive to me.

@Chantel you're preaching to the choir. It's especially frustrating for me when I'm paying for a lot of the weeding myself. I wish a personalized thank you card was enough, but the wedding Gods have made all of these gifts the norm.

I had to run out and get gifts the day before my wedding for the SOs of my bridal party. A few of them came to help us set up which I wasn't expecting. I grabbed a few of these and they were a big hit: http://www.papersource.com/item/You-Rock-Mug/520468.html

You could always stick some candy or coffee in them too.

Exactly! FH and I are paying for most of the wedding ourselves too. It's a destination wedding, so we aren't expecting any form of gift since people need to pay for their travel. In return I think their gift is a super awesome day filled with great food and entertainment. Not to mention the "excuse" for a vacation Smiley winking
