I need advice about gifts. Originally, we had decided not to have flower girls or ring bearers and we are having an adult only reception. My MOH and I have been friends since middle school and she has two daughters (3 and 7). Long story short, MOH has browbeat and guilted (LOTS of guilt) me into having her daughters as flower girls because she doesn't want to tell them no.

Now she's hinting about what gifts I should get her daughters for being flower girls. We are on a super tight budget (hence the adult only reception) and I'm of the mindset that my gift to the girls is letting them be flower girls in the first place. Am I being petty? Thoughts?

I would also like to offer my support. It is unfortunate that someone feels that you're obligated in some way to have their daughters be your flower girls. People seem to forget that this is your wedding and what you would like out of it, not what they think you should do.

If you're not emotionally attached to the girls and feel like you really need to give them something, why not some candy in a cute package, a $5 gift card to a store (Claire's, etc), small candle or a coloring book?

There's a super cute one, that you can print yourself: http://lovelyindeed.com/diy-activity-book-free-printable/

My flower girl was 3 at the time. To "ask" her (after already clearing it with her parents), we got her a coloring book personalized for our wedding. It was so cute and pretty cheap! It was actually personalized throughout the coloring book, not just on the cover, and it also came with a box of crayons which was a nice bonus! http://www.personalizationmall.com/Personalized-Flower-Girl-Coloring-Book-i33926.item?productid=12350

As her gift, I wanted something sentimental. We gave her a pearl bracelet from Etsy personalized with her name on a charm and a crystal in our wedding color, which just happened to be her birth stone. It was not expensive - $16 from this seller: https://www.etsy.com/transaction/241470295 (I included a stock pic, so you could see). Since I understand 3 year olds don't really think bracelets are fun haha, I also got her some cheap "Frozen" dress-up stuff that she could actually play with.

None of the things we gave were expensive. I think easy ideas for you would be the coloring book (esp. for the younger one), a piece of jewelry (could be from Target or Claire's, doesn't have to be fancy), a picture frame, a little jewelry box, something from Things Remembered, etc.

Thank you ladies, there are some really great ideas here. I love the personalized coloring book, annakay!

And thank you, Citroncrazy, for the support. I had always heard stories like this, but never thought it would happen to me!
