Gifts for Engagement Party

It's not required, however some people do bring a bottle of wine or something like that for the host.

Eta: ours was earlier this month and a few friends did bring gifts for FH and I. Lol so make sure you have some thank you cards at home...

My engagement party is set for July 16th and I do not expect people to buy gifts. Just to gather to celebrate.

That's what I had thought. We are having ours July 9. People keep asking what kind of presents do we need and I was kind of confused by what they meant.

You don't have to, but some people do. We just had a party for our close family and we were not expecting gifts. A couple people gave us cards though.

No you're not supposed to. The whole point is that you are announcing your engagement, so (pre-social media times) technically people wouldn't even know you were engaged yet. Some people of course bring gifts anyway like a card or wine.

I would bring a bottle of wine and a card for the couple. But you're not required to bring anything.

Agree with @Dianna - I normally just bring a bottle of wine and a card!
