Gift for Makeup/hair artist?

My longtime friend (who is a professional) did mine for me as well, and since our wedding was a destination, I paid for her hotel. She was originally a guest but then offered to to my hair and makeup as a gift, and shes the only one to do my hair for any event in my life (prom, etc) so I was thrilled! I would get her something, even if it is small.

I would tip. Small gifts like a bottle of wine or thank you card are always nice, but at the end of the day, she's a professional who deserves to be compensated for her work monetarily, even if she isn't actually charging you.

I would tip with cash or a gift card in this case. You could also include a bottle of her favorite wine or something as a nice gesture, but I agree with Caytlyn that there should be a monetary tip involved as she is a professional.

As a stylist, I’d say that if you know her fairly well and go way back do a gift. Otherwise a cash tip in a thank you card would be appropriate.
