Gift bag for hotel or no

Daniel, on August 2, 2020 at 9:24 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 43
So what does one include in a gift bag for the hotel for people staying there. Or do you even have to do one need some ideas but not fully sure what to do
I know that the wedding favors or bonbonniere and history which is different than the gift bag so that is why not fully sure of where the origin of this “tradition” or practice is from. Or if it is even necessary or outdated like a lot of things we label as “tradition”

We did 2 bottles of water, a bag of “his favorite candy” and “her favorite” candy. Then 2 bags of “crab chips” (marylanders here!) door hangers and Tylenol. We heard great feedback about it!

I'm putting in water bottles, a deck of cards, a hotel "Do Not Disturb" door hanger, a welcome note, a few wine tasting coupons for wineries in the area, an area map, and a couple snacks from local shops.

The door hanger is that the over door that you hang clothing on or the one that goes on door knob
I would do her favorite candy but I don’t think it would make it into the bags or to the guests
But I do like the thought though

They're not a necessity, but definitely appreciated when guests are expected to travel to your wedding. I would put a welcome note, an itinerary if there will be any pre or post wedding events, water, snacks (specific to your location preferably,) hand sanitizer, and ibuprofen.

I think you should do what YOU want to do. Sure gift bags are nice, but I don’t think they’re necessary. My sister did gift bags for her wedding & I felt stressed bc we were putting them together the night before the wedding & her MIL wanted them done a certain way. I say it’s an added expense that isn’t needed.
If you decide to do gift bags, keep it simple. I hope this helps!

One for the door knob. On one side it says welcome to our wedding. On the other said it says “shhh Do not disturb. I was up celebrating with the bride and groom”

I was just thinking something simple. As we have had to postpone a few times I was planning on waiting now to buy the waster and orange juice and oranges again but was just wondering what to do

I thought about doing them but not sure yet. We would put a snack that is a favorite his & one of mine (most likely one sweet, one salty). Water, ibuprofen, emerg-c, mints or gum and a deck of cards. We are in Vegas and the bag would go to those families who traveled so I think the cards would be a cute “Las Vegas” thing.

That’s a good idea. Does the hotel have a fridge they can keep it in? I’d be worried about it getting warm. Maybe an orange or two would be good alternative if that’s not an option.

I was thinking and looking into things but most orange juice unless it is fresh does not have to be refrigerated unless it was already in the refrigerator or open that’s why I was thinking it and I figured Donald Duck brand because it is florida
But we originally had the bags set and orange juice which I have almost finished drinking and the water all ready to go before we had to postpone it. So now that is why I am just trying to think what can do since the rest is planned out except date and hotel.

Bought most of the stuff bulk on Amazon and will place our own labels (that I created).
The tote and masks also bulk on Amazon- great quality and made our own logos to heat transfer
The postcard from zazzleThe notecard - custom made by me and printed two sidedEven the coffee (Manatee coffee) was cheaper on Amazon (and it’s our daily use coffee, but in whole beans)

Alex is my FHs son and we wanted him included in our design

I’ve made each of the designs a little more custom, but these were our final choices from all my designs

Welcome bags at the hotel are by no means a necessity. It is really just a cute courtesy/thank you to your guests who have dedicated time and money to flying to your wedding and staying in a hotel. We are doing them for our Destination wedding in New Orleans. We are going to include a couple local food items, Mardi Gras masks, beads (of course!), a hangover kit (bottle of water, packet of Tylenol, and bloody Mary’s in a can), a Tyler welcome letter to each of them, a typed itinerary of the week, and coupons for local events, restaurants, etc.
