Getting to the wedding and leaving..Wedding party

Jenny, on February 16, 2016 at 6:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

Hey guys,

How are you all arriving and leaving the wedding reception/ceremony? We had originally planned on arriving by Limo (the bridal party and myself). I should also mention that we are getting married in a remote location (Plymouth, CA) and we are staying about 15 min drive from where we are getting married.

Anyway, if we rent a limo for a 15 min drive it seems ridiculous to pay for 4-6 hours for that short of a ride. Our wedding reception won't end till 10pm, so then we would need to rent another Limo? Or pay for 8 hours of limo?

My wedding planner suggested I take a town car there and then limo back, but town car will only fit two people! Plus, I would love for all of us to head over together.

What did you do? What are you doing? HELP!

Thanks,

Jenny

We're having a party bus for us and our wedding party even thought there's less than a mile between our ceremony and reception venue. Everyone's will be in suits and long dresses, and it'll give everyone a place to beat the heat when they aren't taking pictures (and have a cocktail). I want our whole wedding party together to go to the reception. We won't have anything after the reception, but our hotel is maybe 3 minutes walking distance, so I'm not worried! We are paying $475 for 4 hours for our party bus.

We are paying $500 for 6 hours for a party bus for all of us! It's about a 10 minute drive from the ceremony to the reception but I think we will make a stop at a park to take pictures.

Our ceremony and reception is in the same place, we're going to meet there. It's not in our budget to pay for transportation.

Our ceremony and reception are also in the same place. I am going to ask my brothers girlfriend or FSIL to drop us off at the venue in 2 separate groups (venue is 1/2 mile from hotel).

FH and I are considering booking a jaguar through the venue as our "getaway car" its $175 for a 5-minute drive but would be kinda cool and make for some awesome pictures. the rest of the BP will take the hotel shuttles back.

Our ceremony and reception are also in the same place. We are renting buses/shuttles for the guests so we might just rent those to drop us off or get an uber ride. We are going to take the shuttles back to the hotel with the guests.

We're getting a Party Bus that will pick up the guys drop them off at the church then come to get me & the girls. After the ceremony, the BP will take the party bus from the church to the reception site and we have a limo for our parents. After the reception our BP will all ride home with their dates and/or parents and the limo company sends a car to bring us home.

The corolla trolley is picking us up at the house we're renting and taking us there - we have the trolley for 5 hours anywhere within corolla as part of our venue package. It will pick up the guests at the reception site along with FH and the best man, drop them off, then turn around and drive about 30 seconds down the road to get the rest of us. The perks of renting a vacation house on the same property as your venue. Smiley tongue

We took a limo there (bridal party and parents) and all guests took a shuttle back to the hotel. Even if we didn't have the shuttle, all of the BP had a SO they could have ridden back with. My parents pre-parked my dad's SUV at the venue so we could load decorations in at the end of the night and park it there overnight.

@Jenny are you and your bridal parties all leaving the reception together, also? I think typically the bride and groom leave together alone, so you if you want to do that you wouldn't need the whole limo.

Our bridal parties are getting ready at different locations. So our limo bus is picking up the groom and groomsmen and taking them to the church. Then picking up me and my bridesmaids and taking us to the church. Then he has to wait for the duration of the ceremony (and we'll get to the church 30-45 minutes ahead of time) and then he'll take both parties to the reception location after. So we are paying for 3 hours, which was the minimum requirement for our limo rental company.

So we really will be using the limo service for at least 2 hours, when you consider the limo waiting on us and waiting pre-ceremony and during the ceremony. We're okay with paying for the 3rd hour. But we won't be using the limo to leave the reception, because it'll just be FH and I.

We have a party bus for 3 hours (paying for 4 because of their driving time). It will pick up me and FH, bridal party and their dates, and parents and bring us to the ceremony and then reception and then leave. We have a school bus for the guests so we will just be taking the school bus back with everyone else at the end of the reception.

We all drove ourselves there and back. I ran into the same problem of a 3 hour minimum and I just couldn't justify hiring two cars. Plus, some of our wedding party had kids and their spouses would have had to drive the kids separately in carseats anyway.

    It really did work fine.

Ceremony and reception are in the same place, so I was able to get an earlier shuttle from the hotel to take us and the WP earlier. FH and are doing first look pics at the hotel so it won't matter if we see each other on the shuttle. Coming back, we will jump on the shuttles the hotel is providing.

People drove themselves. We didn't do a huge bridal party entrance, just a small entrance for me and DH. We got DH's car detailed a couple days before the wedding and then took his car.

If it's a 15 minute drive, people can drive themselves.
