Getting ready photos

FutureBennis, on June 2, 2017 at 10:37 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 38

Did anyone not have their photographer take pictures of them getting ready? My DOC suggested this to me when we met up last time. I'm not sure if it is a waste of time or not.

You can leave it out if you're not a fan. Personally I love the getting ready shots. It doesn't interfere with your timeline at all really, so it's technically not a 'waste of time'.

We will be taking our own getting ready photos with FFIL dslr camera. We don't think it's worth spending money on professional photos of that stuff, but I'd still like some photos of the me with my mother and grandmother that morning.

These are some of my favorites actually. The details are usually captured so well Smiley smile

I got a lot of nice comments on this one even though I look like a slob...on the front porch!

Not married yet, but I've been a bridesmaid in several weddings and they all had the photog take getting ready pictures. You can capture some very sweet moments this way.

    ETA or silly moments!

I think it's part of capturing the day. But if it's not important to you then you can leave it out.

Didn't want to pay a photographer all day for a few getting ready pics. Those will be candids for the most part.

We had getting ready shots done and I was surprised by how much I liked them. I was on the fence about them but I have some great pictures of me and my friends and my husband and his friends relaxed and laughing. Think of it as the rare time when you'll have a professional taking pictures of you and your closest friends just hanging out! I have a few printed and framed as well.

I've been in three weddings and no one has had their photographer take getting ready photos. I always think they're so cute though! However, I am having my photographer start when we should all be ready...maybe I'll wait to put on my dress when he arrives but no makeup/sipping mimosa pics. I'll just be using my phone and I'm sure my mom and MOH will be taking pics during that time...I'd rather have my photographer taking pics well into the reception and dancing vs getting ready.

I won't be having them because idgas. If it's nothing I'd want to frame, I'm not particularly interested.

I am skipping them, mostly because we only have our photographer for 8 hours, and i'd rather have her stay later into the reception.

i also don't like having my photograph taken, so i'm looking forward to getting ready as just casual time with my friends before i'm the center of attention for the rest of the day haha.

I like the ones that my photographer captured. He didn't come until the last moment of getting ready, so he got some of DH and of my mom buttoning up my dress. They don't need a lot of time to get these photos, just have them come the last half hour of getting ready time if you want to get a few pics.

I am skipping them. I know they can really be very romantic/vintage, but somehow I think I will be very stressed and prefer to prepare in private with just my mom and HMUA

My photographer is coming and will take a few getting ready photos of us then we will go straight to out first look. I love these pictures, especially when you are reading letters/cards from your FS. These are the pics that you just glow in as you are preparing for the happy time!

I'm not doing getting ready pictures. I've seen some really cute ones but to me they are kind of cheesy. I'd rather have my photographer stay until the end of the reception to get pictures of all the dancing and drunk people. HaHa! I'll have friends take pics on their phones throughout the day. I'm not big on the ring pictures or pics of the dress hanging in the window. I'd rather have pictures of me and FH and our guests.

We had the photographer and videographer show up in the last 90 minutes to do getting ready (final stuff like bow ties and buttoning etc). In addition they took the detail shots of rings, shoes and stationary etc.

We also had time for us to video tape our vows (in case the audio at ceremony was not good enough) and to video record a couple of sentences as well for the video after we were done.
