Getting Ready Outfits

Jasmine, on March 17, 2021 at 1:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16
Is anyone doing matching “getting ready” shirts or pajamas? I’m on the fence about doing button down shirts and black leggings. I think it’s cute for like 2 pictures, and that’s about it. I only have 2 bridesmaids so ordering 3 shirts won’t break the bank but also when will they, or even myself, wear a monogrammed button down again?

Everyone just wore what they were comfortable in and already owned. I feel like my getting ready photos are no less cute, and it's not like those are the photos you frame anyway.

We didn't do any but i did give my bridal party shirts that said bride tribe but it was more for a gift than to actually get ready in

Similar to you, I'm considering doing button down shirts (I'd do flannel, but my wedding is in the warmest part of summer) and telling everyone to wear black/dark grey leggings or sweatpants or whatever they're most comfortable in. I wouldn't spend too much money on the outfits, unless you're certain that they'll wear them again. I would definitely avoid putting "bridesmaid" or your wedding date on them if you want them to wear the shirts again. I think it's more of a "know your crowd" thing - for example, some people would definitely wear things like robes again, while others ditch them after the wedding. If your bridesmaids love button down shirts, they'll likely wear them again! Otherwise, if you're set on doing matching outfits and need other ideas of things they might wear instead, check out this discussion: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/what-are-you-doing-for-getting-ready-outfits/07890f10d910f3ed.html

I had my girls wear robes that I had monogrammed, but when I bought them I knew they probably wouldn't ever wear them again. However, I was okay with that because I wanted a uniform look for getting ready photos. If you want them in pajamas or button downs you could get ones with a monogram if you want them to be able to wear them again.

I'm not bothering with them. I love that my girls are each their own unique selves and I just really don't like the idea of everyone dressing the same for a picture. I get it for something like a sports team or choir, but the rest of the time it just feels weird to me. They're choosing their own outfits for the ceremony as well, so having matching getting ready outfits would be a bit odd. That's for us, though. If you and your ladies like the leggings/button down look but are worried about future wearability, maybe get the shirts but don't get them monogrammed?

They plan to wear leggings or sweats with button up tops. None of them would go anywhere outside of their own homes in robes or pjs. Personally I don't like the matchy look.

This is a great suggestion with a great link!

I got everyone matching pj sets. Satin shorts, long sleeved button down shirt, matching eye mask. I got them at target on sale during the holidays. Theirs are black with white detailing, and mine is white with light pink stripes! I know all of them will wear it again, so it was the perfect matching outfit for us! I'm considering getting in monogrammed as well.

I think your idea is great and a comfortable option that everyone will like! Def. stay away from anything wedding related on it, but I think monogramming it will be super cute!

I don’t plan on getting shirts. I’m getting a button down shirt for me to wear the day of. What they wear is up to them.

I spent a ridiculous amount of time debating this. Literally not willing to admit how long it took me to decide. I researched and priced. Ultimately robes would cost me as much as flannel shirts. Since I would prefer robes I just did it. I ordered robes on Monday I think. No monograms or personalization. I've heard on several forums they are less likely to be reused.

I really wanted to do this, but my bridal party has 4 people. 2 from my side and 2 of my fiances sisters. I've decided not to because his sisters probably won't get there early enough to do the pictures and then get ready, plus they are getting hair and makeup done closer to home. I didn't want anyone to feel left out.

Yes I definitely will stay away from anything that’s distinctly wedding! I just would hate for anything to not be a sed again.

We skipped the getting ready outfits. Personally, I think it is a waste. I did not care about having photos of me and my friends in PJ's. I could literally get those anytime. I told everyone to wear whatever they would be comfortable in.

I don’t have a bridal party at all but I was thinking of having all the girls just wear a flannel. No special color or anything just a random flannel if they have it and leggings. I know I’m never going to wear a brides robe after the date and I’m not going to force everyone whose getting ready with me to wear something they’ll use once. A cool idea would be to wear a button down maybe with just like an iron on patch of their initials.

I think I’ll just have my 2 girls wear whatever button down they have. It’ll be easier for hair and makeup. And knowing them they’ll probably wear blue or white.

Wen less to worry about then. I was honestly going to just allow my mom and my sisters to like where sweat pants and a button down cuz I honestly might. I want to be comfortable getting ready.
