I am just now in talks with my Hair and Makeup person and the timeline she sent me has me "the bride" going last. I think that is best so we are the most fresh! Hope that helps!

I'm no expert, but I've heard that the bride definitely shouldn't be last getting ready in case everything takes longer than expected. The last thing you want is to start running out of time and rushing through the bride's hair and makeup. Maybe not first, but definitely not last.

Our ceremony was at 4:30. We had to be done for photos by 2. I did a first look with my dad then photos with my bridal party then a first look with my husband. I was then hidden by 3:45 for when guests started to arrive. I was the the 5th of 9 people to have their hair done and the 2nd of 5 to have their makeup done. One bridesmaid, my mom and two flower girls had their hair done after me. My mom and 2 flower girls had their makeup done after me.

I was the last person to get hair and makeup done. And that’s what I’ve always seen in weddings I’ve been in as well.

From what I know, most hair and makeup professionals like to do the Bride last if possible so the hair and makeup looks as fresh as possible for the ceremony. Bridesmaids and family members usually have to be up earlier in the morning for their appointments.

Our ceremony was at 5. 14 women total were getting ready (3 moms, 9 bridesmaids, flower girl, bride) and we had 4 makeup & hair people. I went last with the main girl (who I had my trial with) but we all went together at 10AM.

I think i was 3rd (out of 5) for make up and i was last for hair. (which i didn't end up liking but had no time to fix it. so i would suggest you NOT going last.

I wouldn't suggest going last because then you run out of time. Especially if you are doing bridal picture and such before the ceremony, you want plenty of time to get shoots you want and not feel rushed!

Bride goes last so her hair and makeup are most fresh. Budget some extra time between when you’re projected to complete hair and makeup and when you need to be at the venue or ready for photos. Bridesmaids need to come prepared with an idea of hair/makeup so they are not wasting time deciding day-of. Your start time depends on how many people are having hair/makeup done and how many HMUA will be working. I had 4 BMs and 2 Moms plus myself getting some form of hair and/or makeup (most getting both) and we had to start at 8am to be ready around 1:00-1:30 to leave a buffer for running late and to get down the street to the venue by 2pm.

Ah, forgot to say we had 1 person doing the hair and 1 person doing makeup. Had we had more people they might have brought another HMUA to help speed things up.

We had a ceremony starting at 5pm and all arrived to begin getting ready around 11-11:30 am (3 moms, 5 bridesmaids, bride HMU). We had a total of 3 hair and makeup artists on site and I want to say I went somewhere in the middle? The head stylist provided me a schedule in advance and it looks like my hair/makeup was in the middle as we were providing a little bit more time for each portion for the bride. Overall we were done and ready to get dressed/take photos by 2pm Smiley smile

I think you'll need to pick your time and lil later. That's more than a normal work day hrs time. If your hmu are done by 9 or even 10 it still too much time til 5. You could be redone freshly 10 times. Go last I guess.

Every wedding I’ve been in the bride has been started somewhere in the middle. That way if there are issues, there’s enough time to fix it but you also still look fresh.

My makeup artist told me I would the 6th in line to be done, however my hair stylist plans on doing me first! I have 5 bridesmaids and 2 mother's, so 8 ladies altogether!
    Good luck!!

I've heard that the bride should go when 1/2-2/3 of the party has gone. In the weddings I've been in, the bride hasn't ever gone last for reasons from PP (mostly so that no one is rushing through the bride's stuff if there has been a delay). Do you have 1 stylist for hair and 1 stylist for makeup or multiple stylists? Either way, with the level of professional H&MU services that are done for weddings, an extra hour or more of being in your H&MU shouldn't make a difference! Concerns that might be helpful to just talk to them about directly. I mean, they're the pros after all!

I haven't worked out our day of timeline yet however, I'm thinking I will go somewhere towards the middle. Our ceremony is at 6:30pm and we are not doing a first look but will be taking a lot of group photo's separately prior to the ceremony. I'm thinking we will start getting ready around 11/1130 (7 BM's, 1 JBM, 2 Mothers and Me) so we can be ready for pictures around 4/430. We are having a late June wedding so daylight will not be a factor.

I am planning to be the last out of 5 (3 BMs, 2 mothers) for hair and makeup. Our wedding starts at 530, and I want to do some pictures with family and BMs before (no first look) so I think we will start getting ready round 1030 - 1100. Nice easy morning no alarm wake ups then breakfast before we start getting ready Smiley smile
