Getting Ready at home vs in the hotel??

Nikki, on September 21, 2019 at 8:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 11
Hi Everyone!

Looking for some advice on where to get ready. The venue is 30 minutes away from home vs the hotel which is about 10 minutes away. Any pros or cons to getting ready at the hotel vs getting ready at home?

Are other people getting ready with you? The last thing that I would want is to prepare my home (and myself) to host people right before my wedding. I also have a dog and all of our dresses would inevitably get covered in dog hair. Not quite the look I'm going for. I think it's just nice to get a hotel room for the night before the wedding where you can relax and not think about the normally daily chores at home; dishes, laundry, etc. Take the time to relax.

I’m not getting ready at home, for many of TVs reasons that Caytlyn mentioned (I have a dog & 2x cats) & the chores etc. Our house is a rental & I do not have any feels towards it.
We are getting at the bridal suite in the venue. It’s huge & beautiful.
I know some people have gotten ready at their parents house (which is sweet to get married in the house you grew up in). Or some people choice to get ready in their house (especially if they are planning on staying in the house for memories).
    Its really up to you.

I think I rather keep it close to the venue so I say hotel. Is also a more relaxing and neutral setting not to mention it would look best for your getting ready photos.

Hotel! Parents house is in the suburbs and our wedding is downtown. I reserved rooms for me and bridesmaids in a cool hotel near the Church//Venue. We will get ready there.

This is actually one less thing to worry about since traffic to downtown can be heavy on weekends

I’d do a hotel, I think you’ll get better photos and it’ll be a more tranquil setting then your home. Plus you won’t be responsible for cleaning right before the wedding, which is important to me.

I couldn’t find a hotel with a large enough suite for us to do hair and makeup so we rented an air bnb. It’s a whole house, very charming. At least I know it will be clean, they’ll be plenty of room.

I'd do the hotel for all the reasons mentioned above. We're getting married closer to where our families live, but we live seven hours away, so we're definitely doing it at the hotel personally. However, even if we did live there, I really wouldn't want the stress of hosting people the morning of. Plus, we're staying at the hotel with everyone after the rehearsal dinner, so it wouldn't make sense to go back to the house to get ready to go back to the hotel, if that makes sense.

My venue is 40 mins away and I’m getting ready there. I know that if I’m already where I need to be, I can relax and stress a heck of a lot less!

My house is about the same distance to our venue as yours and I’m getting ready at the house. With what it was going to cost to get a hotel, I’m just hiring a cleaning company to come in the day before. I like getting up and already being at my getting ready spot and knowing I won’t have to pack a getting ready bag. My house is also more spacious than a hotel suite and has more bathrooms.

I would say the pro of hotel is that it might look nicer and be roomier. the con is the cost. and i guess the hotel is closer to the venue.
