You could go ahead and decide on your wedding color palette - that's always fun! Also, start thinking about budget and theme for the special day!

You should start with making a budget and guest list. Then start searching for venues (some tend to book very far in advance). After that start working on the theme, hashtag and an overall ideal what experience you want your guest to have.

I am getting married a few years out from engagement too! I think it's actually really fun! It gives you a chance to look at all of the options without the pressure of needing to make a decision right then.
I've just started looking at the big things like venues, caterer, photographer. A lot of venues will book out 18 months in advance, and some even more, so its not a bad idea to look into that. I'd also get an idea of number of guests and budget.

Just have fun with it! Look in to as much as you want and don't feel like you need to make all the decisions now - you've got plenty of time Smiley smile

Good idea! I am getting married a year after my engagement but to be honest if I had more time that would have been great.
My advice... Try to have fun with planning and take breaks when you need. It is so easy to get overwhelmed when planning, so take breaks to compose yourself Smiley smile

I figured out that I really needed to book my venue before my vision came together. And also that tells you how much you need to budget for other stuff, like if catering, tables, chairs, or linens is included, you don't need to budget extra for them. it's hard to budget without a tentative guest list and a venue.
I made a budget, and then I laughed and made another budget, and then we laughed, and now I'm on another budget but who knows. Everything is more expensive than you think it'll be.

Also see if you have any facebook groups in your area for buying/selling and wedding advice. My local facebook group has helped me a ton and I've bought a ton of decor and gotten vendor recommendations from there as well.
