I recently pulled out my baby tooth (3 weeks ago). I always thought I would live with my baby tooth forever, but it became very loose lately and I had no choice but to pull it out. Now I feel I have to do braces to fix my smile and this has never been part of my plan before the wedding. I talked to the orthodontist today... Invisaline (the invisible option) is not suitable for me, ans I can only wear the clear braces with a metal wire across the teeth. My wedding is next April and I was told I couldn't temporarily take them off. Smiley sad I already paid for most of the things for my wedding and now I have to wear braces on my big day. Guess I am not asking a questions but just disappointed.

Thanks everyone! I have consulted a couple of dentists and Invisaline is not an option for me. I travel a lot and either dentist in North Cal or Hong Kong work for me. It truly has been a hard decision whether to put it on now or not. The entire treatment will take two years, and I don't know after my wedding what will come up to keep me from putting on braces. I guess I will have to talk to my dentist and beg him to temporarily take it off. If he refuses I will try to be a happy bride with braces. Smiley sad

Get a second opinion. I had a crazy weird tooth issue and got to do invisalign. Also my coworker hAd braces but they were on the inside of her mouth.

One of the doctors at our clinic had "6 month braces". They were the clear ones. They ended up taking 7 or 8 months, but maybe it's something to look into? She had to be extra careful not to discolor them, lots of upkeep, but it might be worth it to have them off before your big day!

Do the braces here, every country has different standards of care. I agree with the flipper idea. It will buy you sometime

Aww I'm so sorry to hear that:-(. My last baby tooth had to be pulled at 19 and I had to wear braces for 4 years..now I have Invisalign. The good thing is that they do make clear brackets now, and while they can discolor easily, they are still a better option than full blown metal. I'm so sorry you have to wear braces on your special day, but you will be stunning regardless and your fh will absolutely be speechless when he sees you. Cheer up!

I couldn't do invisalign either - my roots are too unstable? I don't know they told me no. I also have 3 implants from an accident.... I only need them on tbe bottom and i am waiting until after the wedding.

I literally felt like I was the only adult alive with a baby tooth... I'm so glad I'm not alone! I am horrified of it falling out before our wedding because it's in an obvious location. Praying my teeth don't shift and I can make it through.

I plan to get it removed after the wedding and get braces then, but for now... Hoping it stays put.

@Breezy You are definitely not alone. I also hoped it would last until wedding but it became so loose. But just in case yours fall off, you could do a temporary false tooth (the removable one) which only cost me 400. It looks real! But for me it is too uncomfortable so I decide to wear braces.

I had braces with bright pink bands in my engagement pics. You'll be fine!

Have you looked into Damon Braces? I work in a professional environment where I have to meet with outside vendors. I dont want big clunky metal braces so i have looked into other options. I am a candidate for Invisalign but they cost is so much higher that I think I'm going to go with Damon Braces. ETA: words

I would just wait until after the wedding to get braces. I'd rather have crooked teeth in pictures than braces.

Personally, if I had had to go back in braces for my wedding, I would have matched my band colors to my wedding colors and rocked it. I had them for years as a kid.

But I do understand how disappointed you are. But adulthood is different from childhood, and caring about your oral health isn't ugly. Braces are just a means to an end and you need them, so try to see it in a more positive light.

I have braces and I'll get married with them. At first I was bummed that I can't take them off but now I consider them as one of my accessories.

I have braces. I have them to fix my bite; it was the only option besides major orthognatics surgery. I also have a mouth full of impacted baby teeth. My dentist said in all of his 30 years in practice, he's never seen anything like it. I've never had wisdom teeth (thank God) lol. I will be having one baby tooth removed on Monday. They're easy to remove (No roots), but I don't want to risk infection 2 weeks before my wedding. Good luck. My smile will not be perfect on my wedding day, but I honestly don't care at this point.

Crystal, I never had wisdom teeth either! According to my dentist, we're more highly evolved, LOL!

You can have your photographer airbrush the braces out of pictures. Especially if you get the clear brackets. Or wait to get them? You just need to decide if your teeth look ok enough now to wait or deal with the braces. (I have them, so I get it.) It's hard to even see them with the clear ones. Good luck honey!
