Getting married in Maryland but live in Virginia

Sarah, on June 5, 2013 at 7:58 PM Posted in Planning 0 1

Hi everyone!

My fiancé and I will be getting married in St. Michaels, MD (Talbot County) but we live in Virginia (Arlington County). This might be a dumb question, but do we need to have our marriage license somehow transferred over to Virginia, too? Or is it okay to just have a Maryland license? Also, we want my godfather to be our officiant so we're looking into online ordination through Universal Life Church, which is recognized and accepted in the state of Maryland but not in Virginia. Does anyone know any more info on this??

Thankss so much!

You only need the Maryland license. Not sure about the officiant, though. This link may be helpful to you:
