Getting married in 45 days?!?

Shelby, on July 6, 2021 at 9:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 8
So me and my fiance had not planned on having a wedding, but everyone is saying we will regret it if we don't. So we are having a small wedding, but here is so much to do. Where do I even begin?

Budget first, pick a location. how many people are you thinking? Are you getting courthouse married? You could get married at a park or something and then have a "reception" at a restaurant or something in a private room. Really depends on what you are going for. First thing is how much you are willing to spend. 45 days isn't a lot of time - from the time I booked my venue to my actual wedding its just under around 2 years of planning, and been engaged since 2019. Don't let people pressure you into doing a wedding if that isn't what you want. If you want to just elope you and your fiancé do that.

Fofty five days isn't a lot of time to plan. The first two things you need to decide on are you lr budget and guest list then start looking for a venue. If you are trying to have a wedding in such a short period of time then I'm afraid traditional wedding venues are likely going to be out of the question because unless you get extremely lucky they are likely already going to be booked especially because of Covid people had to change dates.

If you are only doing it because people are telling you that you should, I would advise against it. If you were happy eloping, do that. If you actually want a wedding in 45 days you need to establish a budget and guest list ASAP. You’ll need a venue and catering at the minimum. Things add up very quickly - depending on where you live you’ll likely have to get very creative with a venue (park, back yard, restaurant). Cheap food options are usually catering from somewhere like Olive Garden or Chipotle.

I say if you have like 30 people you could just go to a restaurant or something book a private room, you might be able to find larger event spaces but with a lot of couples rebooking from COVID it might be really tough to find vendors.

Is that where you planning on having the reception as well? If you then will need to locate a reception space ASAP which is going to be a lot easier said than done. Also I wouldn't consider around 100 people small.

I planned 75% of my wedding in two weeks - it's not going to be easy, but it's possible!

    1. Start off with a realistic budget.

    2. Find a wedding coordinator - this will be VERY helpful since you're on a time crunch!

    3. Create & finalize your guest list - knowing your exact number will be helpful with the planning below.

    4. Find a venue - whether it's a wedding venue, a brewery, restaurant, etc. Restaurant might be your best option - you'll knock out both venue and catering!

    5. Find entertainment - dj/band/etc. DJ is probably the easiest to do.

    6. Keep decorations to a minimum - candles, table runners, table numbers, etc.

    7. Don't worry about having bridesmaids/groomsmen - this will help in terms of less planning/attire/etc.

You can do it!! It's possible! Good luck!! Smiley ring

All of the above and don't forget to apply for your marriage license with the bureaucracy. Best wishes!
