Getting married at home

thenewmrsthang, on June 9, 2015 at 4:41 PM Posted in Planning 1 13

We decided to have an intimate wedding at home. I am expecting around 30 guests. Just close friends and family. Has anyone gotten married at home in their living room or perhaps on their deck or attended a home wedding? Would love to hear some creative ideas!

I really wanted to but had to invite far too many guests. I don't have anything to add, just that it sounds like a wonderful idea!

My brother got married in his living room. It was small and quaint with minimal decorations. It was very romantic, there's something so sweet about the simple things.

    Good luck to you both!

This is funny because my deceased grandma & granddad did (I wasn't there obviously). My cousin (my dads first cousin, I also wasn't there but I was like 8 yrold) also got married in her living room w/8 guest & only 2 wks notice to everyone. Shes a travel agent who specializes in DW so she tells the story dozens of times a week to new & potential clients. They were more interested in a grand honeymoon & house (hints the house wedding).

We had our initial ceremony in our home November 26th. We invited our immediate family and very, very close friends. Including us, it was less than 25 people. We had the ceremony in our living room. We removed all the furniture and placed the chairs in a semi-circle. We already had our Thanksgiving decorations up, so I just added some candles and put tulle on the chairs. The ceremony was very short and sweet (maybe 3 minutes) Afterwards, we had a catered dinner, danced and laughed. That was it.

I'm really happy about the fact that I'm not stressed anymore! I am no longer stressed about a guest list, food, seating or decor. Plus I'm comfortable, I get to get ready in my own room and take my time. I know it will be fun!

If we had a home large enough to to do so, it's the route we kinda of wanted to go. We wanted a backyard/home wedding but no one in our families could accommodate us in theirs and our house is tiny bungalow. Love the idea though as long as you still get it catered so as not to stress yourself (or guests) by having to cook I think it's a wonderful idea

My mom and stepfather got married in my grandparent's foyer. Everyone was set up on either side (half in living room, half in dining room). It was intimate and beautiful!

FH cousin just got married in his parents' living room. We weren't able to attend (they only gave us 3 weeks notice, and the wedding was an 18hr drive) but the pictures look beautiful.

My cousin got married in my aunt's house. I was 19 and played the music for it. The house was packed with people. It was very sweet and simple. I even considered doing the same thing now, but in my own home.

We are having a home wedding at FH's parents' house on their front deck! They live two streets over from is, so it's basically a home wedding...lol!! We are decorating an arch to put on the deck, and also a few simple decorations on the deck! I can't wait!!
