Getting excited for my postponed wedding?

Sarah, on April 11, 2021 at 9:55 AM Posted in Planning 0 3
Hi ladies!!

My wedding date was set for 10-24-2020. Unfortunately we decided to postpone. Now it's going to be 11-6-2021.

I was reminded the other day that I have a little over six months until the wedding. Since postponing with my vendors, I haven't don't a single thing for my wedding. Now I REALLY need to start figuring everything out, but I'm having trouble finding motivation. I am no longer the starry-eyed new fiance!
Has anyone been in a similar situation? How do I tackle this mountain of planning and work? How can I get excited about it??
Tia!!

    Hi Sarah,
We are former date "twins" as we were scheduled for 10/24/20 and last June made the decision to push out a year as well. Whew! I know EXACTLY how you feel with gaining momentum back to plan and get excited again with the big day. I had all the feels and dragged my way through the last few months.
All I can say is, start planning *something* again, even if it is small. I have relied a lot on my fiance and friends to pick me back up so to speak. I started by trying on my wedding dress at one of my bridesmaids house, that helped a LOT! Then, I started working on shoes, invitation ideas...small things to get the ball rolling! Now, I'm full steam ahead with table decorations and booking Bachelorette weekend with my girls and things are getting exciting again! 😀I feel for you and happy to chat! Start small, involve your bridal party/fiance and give yourself a little time to get going again!Hugs! 💕

Me!! I postponed twice (April 2020 and August 2020 to August 2021). Now that vaccines are more widely available and more guests are getting vaccinated, I am getting more excited because it seems "real" this time. I think just getting back on WW has sparked excitement in me, which translates into me wanting to check things off my list! Even doing something small (like updating your wedding website) will get you back in the "planning mode"

Yes!!! I agree with these other ladies ... you just have to start. I was an Oct. 17 2020 bride. We had our ceremony that day and pushed out the big party. I felt "eh" about planning because we're already married and I was worried I'd have to postpone again. (We postponed until December 4th 2021) My bridesmaid asked for our hotel codes the other day. I was like .. oh crap our wedding is happening soon lol. The big things just transferred dates so I hadn't given anything much thought. So I entered the new hotel info on the website ... and I started thinking again. Since we moved from fall to winter I started rethinking cake decoration and flowers .... and ever since then it's just started moving. I've gotten excited again!
