get a massage Now or right before the wedding??

bluedaisy, on July 29, 2010 at 7:30 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Alright ladies, so last year for my birthday, my fiance got me a gift card for a massage. At the time, my life wasnt really stressful, so I decided to save it for sometime when I would really appreciate it Smiley smile Anyways...I had been thinking that I would save it for the week before the wedding and figured it would be really nice in the midst of wedding stress.

However...this summer has been a bit crazy and overwhelming with summer classes and beginning of wedding plans and some emotional drama with friends and such...and Im starting to wonder if maybe Id be better off just using it now! granted, this week, I will finish my last paper and have some time off for the next few weeks before school starts again (im looking for a job, so Im not working right now), so I will get to relax a bit at least.

So...what do you think? massage now or right before the wedding?

fyi, getting both is not an option budget-wise.

Right before the wedding you will need and deserve a break after all the work you have done. I say get the massage and the pedicure and manicure and enjoy your beauty and feel relaxed and ready for the big day after the planning and the holidays it will be really nice!

My only concern is time before the wedding. A massage is supposed to be relaxing, and with all the last minute stuff, can you really find the hour and half you need to get one?

And if you do get the time, is it worth it to relax than have to rush back into something the second you're done?

Make sure it doesn't expire, because alot of gift certificates are only good for a year.

Jessica-thats what i was originally thinking, Im really hoping to be able to do a mani/pedi too

meghan-yeah, that was one of my other thoughts against that as well-would I raelly be able to relax? im not sure. i will be done with school the 17th, so theoretically will have fromthe 17th-7th to get last minute stuff done...but holidays and stuff also get in the way.

hmm...maybe convincing fh a massage on the honeymoon (couples or just me!) could be the route to go...cause then Id realy be able to relax....

A warning. I just read that massages push a lot of water out of your body, so after getting one, you tend to have to pee often and it can lead to a rough night's sleep because of that. I read somewhere that you shouldn't get one right before the wedding.

My MOH is trying to get us a spa day before the wedding, I'd get it the week before your wedding. my MOH wasn't working but she just gota job w/ Kia and supposedly will be making "bank" according to the guy that got her on so she is supposed to treat me to a massage, getting a mani/pedi/fake nails and possibly getting my hair cut, colored and highlighted before the wedding. (I'm not holding my breath since I've already paid for 60% of the bridal shower stuff and I don't expect for her to pay me back Smiley sad)

I have also read not to get one right before the wedding - the pee stuff that Shana mentioned, and your skin might be a bit mottled from the change of circulation. I don't think it matters if it's a "light and fluffy" kind of massage...it's a concern when it's a deep tissue massage.

Do not get it the day before the wedding...to be safe, I would get it 2 weeks before the wedding if you choose to wait to get it. Depending on what type you get, deep tissue massages (which are amazing!) can make you sick for a couple days.

Yeah, be careful with the type if you do it right before. Deep tissue can release some of the toxins in your body and make you feel sick. I felt really sick and even sore after my own and only massage I ever had in my lifetime. But I remember the massage therapist telling me this was normal.

If I did it before the wedding it would probably be several days before...not right before.
