Gatherings increasing in ny for phase 4

Lindsay, on June 25, 2020 at 4:51 PM Posted in New York Planning 1 21
Great news gatherings for Ny will be 50 people by phase 4. We have cut our guest list for this years ceremony but somehow the numbers keep going up we have about 34 guests coming they are the closest family and friends and then everyone else will be zoomed in. We postponed our reception to next year and people are getting confused like your having a wedding this year and next and I’m trying to explain to them we’re having the reception/party next year so everyone can come and I’m saving my dress for that. Main reason is because we couldn’t get our money back from the venue but we still wanted to celebrate with everyone so my question is do you think people will want to come next year to still celebrate even though they have come this year and or watched it on zoom? I don’t want people thinking I’m having a million weddings I truly wanted one wedding with everyone but because that couldn’t happen this year this is what we have to do. What are your guys thoughts on this?

    Totally!

This is becoming the new thing - video in everyone for the ceremony, then throw the party next year. I think it's a great way to connect via technology.

I know ppl would come. Make sure they are aware if that. Me personally 50 ppl is a great amount of ppl. So for me this would had been it. Especially bc you have a venue now it may lookk like two weddings. But you know it goes however it works for you

Yes people will still come to the reception next year. At the ending of your zoom wedding I would thank them for watching your wedding and tell them how you guys can't wait to party with them next year at the wedding reception.

So the gathering size in phase is 50 however wedding venues have not been specifically named as part of the phase 4 reopening. phase 4 is dividied into sub groups so we are waiting on the guidelines for when wedding venues will be allowed to open. malls, casinos, and gyms are also not allowed to be part of the initial phase 4 reopening because theyre still being studied so just because the gathering size is 50 doesnt mean a gym can open with 50 people, for example. within the next few days we’ll know the answer i hope and im also hoping it will be more than 50 since connecticut and nj are already way ahead of us on that. i have spoken to a few venues and they are also waiting to see what the guidelines will be and hoping the number goes up to 75 or 100

Well unfortunately I couldn’t get my money back And there’s a lot sitting in my venue nor am I wearing my dress this year and sadly with 50 people allowed that is not even all our family and friends a lot of important people physically missing which is why we moved the party to next year. And we only have about 34 attending physically this year.

Honestly, I’d have your intimate ceremony and not zoom everyone else in. That way when you reschedule it will entice people to come to the wedding because they wouldn’t have seen it twice. That’s what we are doing! Best of luck!😊

Totally get your point but we’re not having a ceremony next year it’s just the wedding reception. We’re having the ceremony this year on our original date cause it’s has meaning to us and we want to be married already so next year is just the party where I will wear my dress no vow renewal. Good luck to you too!!

People will absolutely come celebrate!! Delaying the party & reception is really common with 2020 couples right now, and is totally understandable. I think your guests will definitely still want to come celebrate your marriage! Smiley heart

I think I’m in a pretty similar situation as you. Our venue is in NY right over the CT border and we’ve already been playing around with the idea of moving it to CT since as it stands the guidelines seem to be better in CT

CT is still in phase 2 but expected to be phase 3 in mid July where outdoor gatherings are up to 250. Capacity limits are still in place but it’s looking like CT might be a little more promising.

I thought about it but I think if I were to move my venue I’d be jinxing myself and if Connecticut ends up with a spike and makes any changes I’d be fuming. The fact that gov Lamont moved his daughter september wedding made me iffy
