So my fiancee isn't a fan of the garter toss but im kinda on the fence. Im curious to know if you did the tradition, had an alternative, or left it out completely?

We're doing neither. All my unmarried friends have thanked me in advance.

If your FH doesn't want to do it, why push the issue?

We are eliminating them completely. I personally find them to be rather tacky and awkward. I have been to multiple weddings over the last couple of years where people skipped them and nobody seemed to notice.

We just skipped it. I haven't seen one done in years, and we go to 2-3 weddings a year.

@Alexis, I'm curious what exactly about the origins of the garter toss you like? These are the only origins theories I've ever heard, both of them are awful.

OP, were skipping them and not replacing them.

My fiancé isn't a fan and I respect that. I wouldn't want to make him do anything that makes him uncomfortable. We are probably skipping both garter and bouquet toss. I've also heard some people say they don't like being pointed out for being single either. Regardless I like the idea of honoring the longest marriage instead.

We decided to skip it and dedicate a bouquet to a friend who introduced us

For a good alternative,a friend of mine (along with her husband) decided to buy an extra garter and use that to toss (they did this instead of physically taking the garter off of her). I do not plan to do the traditional garter toss either so we are just going to purchase an extra one and use that one to toss. Hope this helps!

Neither. We decided that we are going to do the shoe game.

We are doing both. I will have a smaller version of my bouquet to use for the toss. I will also be wearing two garters. One will not be as high. It is not going to be done with FH teeth or anything awkward like that. FH has picked out a song for his removal/toss and I have as well for my toss.

We did the garter toss and everyone liked it. There was no going up my dress. He just pulled it down from right above my knee. I opted not to do the bouquet toss and instead gave my bouquet to FH grandma who just celebrated her 69th anniversary.

We are doing the bouquet and gather toss. Every wedding I've been too, they do it. It's just the norm here.

I find the garter toss to be uncomfortable and borderline inappropriate and the bouquet toss always made me cringe. So, we will definitely be omitting these! Instead, I will be giving a bouquet to the longest married couple - winner of the anniversary dance.
