Does anyone still do this? I haven't been to many weddings and completely forgot about it until my mother told me she wanted to buy my garter... my FH and I are kind of miffed about how to do it appropriately. We decided to search YouTube for garter removals that other couples have done to get an idea of how it's done but it seems that all the videos we watched are super sexual, theatric, and kind of trashy.. and I just can't get frisky in front of my grandparents like that! Lol any advice or suggestions? Do people still do this? Is there a way to do this without it being promiscuous?

@teamgrz we are having a teddy bear toss actually. And my daughter is throwing it to the other kids!

We aren't doing the garter toss though, might improvise for something else for FH to throw.

We're doing both as most of the crowd is going to be single and like the tosses.

To keep it from being vulgar, my garter will be around my ankle and FH will remove it with hands only and I'll probably stick my leg out from under my dress.

My brother and SIL did not do this at their wedding (she is an elected government official so it would have been extremely awkward considering the guests that were there), and that was the first time I realized "omg you don't HAVE to do that." I don't think we'll be doing it, I find it uncomfortable and tasteless, plus we only have a few single guests and don't want to make them feel uncomfortable. I still want to wear a garter though just for funSmiley smile

I know a couple who did both tosses but did not do the garter removal. She threw the bouquet and he threw the garter, but she was never wearing the garter at any point.

You can skip it and still have your mom buy you a garter. Something for your H to see after the wedding, maybe even pass it down to your kids to wear in their wedding too.. Just another idea.

I bought a garter set but font know if I will do it. My mother and father are very religious and if I know my FH he will make it very sexual.

We are also skipping the garter and bouquet toss, more time for drinks, food, and dancing.
