Garter Toss: Yea or Nay?

Will you be throwing the garter or tossing the tradition on your wedding day? Are you yea or nay to having a garter toss at your wedding?

Yep, we did that too. Wearing a mermaid dress there wasn't much room for him to get lost and make it weird (haha). That's as far as he was able to get. We thought about making it a little humorous and light hearted - pulling out props, rubber chickens, granny panties, etc. but didn't have the time to figure it all out.

Quite literally as far as he would have been able to fit!Garter Toss: Yea or Nay? 2

Skipped. I think the history of the tradition is gross.

We'll most likely be doing it but I'll want to make it as not weird as possible lol!

Nope. I've always found this tradition weird and uncomfortable so we are omitting it.

I personally think it is gross.. People watching as your SO goes up your dress and waiting to see your facial expression is so uncomfortable to me. But we're doing it because I want to do the bouquet toss :/ lol

    Oh well!

Hi Abby! I think people really enjoy watching a comedic garter toss! Maybe add some humor into it to make your guests laugh!

No GROSS! First of all I was sweating from dancing & second I don't need Aunt Mary watching as H went up my dress!

I just looked up the history of the garter toss and it's kinda weird! So in medieval times, people thought having part of the bride's dress was good luck. So right after you got married, people would rush at you to grab part of your dress, and sometimes people would even follow up the newlyweds to bed and rip their clothes off to encourage them! WTF! lol.

Even without knowing that, I wouldn't have done it. It creeps me out.

I absolutely HATE this tradition. I've been to many weddings but only one wedding had this dumb tradition and I hated watching. Especially when my FH caught the garter unknowing that the couple would then make him put it on the girl who caught the bouquet. Really made us all uncomfortable.

Skipping for sure, I despise this tradition. Everything about it seems gross to me. Especially when people make whoever caught the garter on whoever caught the bouquet, hard pass.

We skipped it. I think it unnecessarily breaks up the party and it is just awkward as a guest to watch and I would feel very uncomfortable as the bride.

I've been to several weddings where there was only a bouquet toss and no garter toss!

No probably not. I hate being center of attention so the day will be a little stress-inducing as it is, I don't need to be embarrassed too.
