Garter toss song?

Monica, on September 11, 2021 at 1:37 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 2 25

I am trying to pick a garter toss song. I think I found one, its hip hop. But i was wondering: the garter removal and garter toss is just that right, like literally remove the garter and toss it? my Fh is definitely not one to do a goofy or sexy dance or anything like that.

It really doesn’t matter what song is played right? FH is not helping me w the music selection as much as I hoped.

We had the garter removed, then tossed and whoever caught the bouquet had the garter placed on them by who ever caught it. It was fun.

I didn’t know people still did this. When I was single, I would purposely use this time to go to the restroom to freshen my makeup.

I think it’s something that is finally trending out. Only one wedding I’ve been to in the past 5-6 years have done the garter or bouquet toss.

Generally it’s just a discreet sliding it off the bride’s leg and tossing to the crowd. I’ve only seen the strip club style dancing on YouTube and I have never come across anyone who puts it on the one who catches the bouquet so that isn’t even a concern in many circles. You can use any music and there are playlists on YouTube to browse. Some grooms toss the boutonnière instead. I’ve seen more weddings that skip both tosses and they aren’t missed but I would not they are falling out of trend because they are still a thing in some circles.

I think some people aren't fond of lining up all the single people for this. I used to duck out from it too.

We're going with "Love Me" by The Cardigans, because it gives me sexy flirty vibes lol. Skip it if you two aren't into it though. It's your big day!

I don't think it matters. My groom still hasn't given me the song he wants played during it but I'm not too worried about it.

All the guys in our circle are going to make a dramatic event out of dodging the garter anyway LOL

We skipped it at our wedding, but my brother and sister in law included it. He took the garter off her leg, threw it into the crowd, and then the guy who caught it put it on my leg (I caught the bouquet). The band was making a big deal out of it, and playing suggestive music when the guy when to put it on, but since my brother mentioned "you know that's my sister" he just slid it on lol.

I chose Material Girl by Madonna. She’s one of my favorite artists, and I read on a Pinterest recommendation list that it would be a good choice.

The more I think about it, the more I think maybe we should skip it. Its kind of awkward lol. And I wont have to worry about finding a song.

I'm so sorry, I totally misread the thread! I thought you meant for the bouquet toss. That's what I'm using Material Girl for. My FH is using "Oh Yeah" from the end of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I'd say then that you should let your FH choose his own song.

This makes me cringe. It's so awkward.

People know that the bride and groom are going to have sexy time-they don't want to see it. Especially the parents/grandparents.

And even if the girls are going to fight over the bouquet because of the supposed "you'll be the next to get married", I highly doubt she wants the guy who caught the garter (who could easily be her brother/cousin/uncle) to slide it up her thigh. It's just.....ew.
