Garter & bouquet toss

How many of you all decided against doing the typical garter and bouquet toss? Still on the fence about it. Want to here some people’s thoughts on why they did/didn’t participate.

Skipped both. Cheesy, outdated and awkward (for us, no judgement).

I was strongly against it for a few reasons.

    1. As a wedding guest, it always made me feel so crappy that I was single when we had to participate in a bouquet toss. Specifically if there weren't a lot of single people at the wedding.

    2. I find it disgusting when a groom climbs up under the bride's skirt. I do not want to see that and I would feel so uncomfortable.

    3. It is an old tradition that does not mesh with my beliefs.

We are skipping both. I hate the idea of the garter up my leg and FH doesn't like it either. As for the bouquet toss, he asked if I wanted to do it, but it will mostly be my sisters and young cousins. I'd rather just skip it.

After seeing someone else's comment, I may have the florist make a small bouquet to give to the longest married after the anniversary dance. That would be super sweet!

We did neither. I have always found the garter to be super awkward, and I hated being forced to participate in the bouquet toss when I was single. did not want to subject any of our guests to that!

Skipping the garter toss because a) I would be super embarrassed b) my dress wouldn't make it easy and c) FH didn't care either way

As for the bouquet toss, I'm doing it but I'm thinking of doing a breakaway bouquet so everyone can get a flower or three.

We didn't. I don't have many single friends/family members, and I didn't want to put the few there on the spot. I also personally hate them. I don't like to perpetuate the stigma that every single woman should strive to get married and make them compete to catch flowers to determine who is next.

Fiance wants to do these but I absolutely do not. I hate the idea of the garter toss and both just seem unnecessary and awkward.
