Furniture on wedding registry

Amber, on December 14, 2019 at 11:34 AM Posted in Registry 0 11
I've seen people put $250 mixers and $300 deep fryers so why is it wrong to ask for a $150 bed frame or $125 table and chairs? I do not understand the rules when making my registry. I have a range of things of all prices but a lot is under $50 and theres not much above $150.

I’ve never been told it’s wrong to ask for a table and chairs or a bed frame. Where have you heard that? Usually those things are much more expensive than $150 but if you’ve found one you love for that much, add it to your registry.

I've never heard that registering for inexpensive furniture was against some kind of etiquette. A $1500 bedroom set would be a little different.

I've seen people say that asking for furniture is greedy and tacky. Even if it's cheap.

I dont think it's tacky! If you need it, do it. I'm of the opinion of it's something that's just for one of you rather than both, then it's tacky (ie something that's just a hobby for one person rather than both)

The wedding police create nonsensical “rules” and will say anything (as if everything wedding related must be exactly the same across the board). Definitely registry for your bed frame. It’s going in your house.... not theirs. 😉

Definitely not tacky or greedy. Register for what you want - people don't have to buy it for you its just a list of suggestions!

The good thing is that if they were to purchase the item for you, then at least they should be happy that it is something that you will really need and want for your house and not some $30 utensils.

I don't think it's wrong to ask for that on a registry!

Nothing wrong with that!! We registered for a bed frame on Amazon that was about $200 and someone did buy it for us! We love it! One of our favorite gifts for sure. As long as it isn't super expensive there is nothing wrong with it!

Also, most wedding registries give completion discounts so you can buy the things left on your registry after the wedding. For example, Amazon gives you 20% off!

Same! I have had trouble putting on items because I don’t want people to buy expensive items. At the same time if someone wants to buy it I guess it’s ok to list it. I’ve put items ranging from $10.00 - $250.00.
