Hi All! My fiance and I have been together for 10 years, and are very non-traditional when it comes to the wedding ceremony and reception! We are having a black and burgundy vampire/gothic-themed wedding, and my dress will be black. Our wedding is on Halloween this year. We were wanting some ideas for a wedding script or vows that are either funny, morbid, or non-traditional. I'm a lawyer (prosecution) and he's a deaner at a coroner's office- so bonus points if you can work that in there

Some things we've seen we like-

Dearly Beloved and Accursed

Speak loud for now or shut up forever

"I'd ask for objections here, but they don't really care"

Reading him his miranda rights before his vows (as prosecutor)

Some things we don't care for-

Corpse bride wedding vows (it's been done, not looking for that!)

It's been 10 years, about time groom!

Anything religious (we are both atheist)

I think the ones you've listed sound good, but I would also make sure that your state doesn't require specific vows to be said as well. We got married in Pennsylvania and we wrote our own vows, but we still had to say the traditional vows in order to be legally married.

Have you thought of doing a handfasting ceremony? It's unusual but beautiful with roots in several cultures. A lot of those ceremonies can have connection to irish traditions or wiccan traditions and have a spooky sound to them!

Also try looking for quotes in movies you love, try some Halloween or horror classics even! I've considered having my officiant dressing up as Jason just to surprise my love!

Late to this post but OMG!!! I am planning my best friend wedding for October 10, 2021 and the theme is................................Victorian vampire! The color scheme is black, gold and burgundy! This is so awesome. I'm dressing up as the nun from the conjuring but minus the crazy makeup and I'm the officiant! I'm currently trying to figure out the vows and ceremony. They want 15 min tops with a sand ceremony.
