Fun Catholic Ceremony Exit Songs

Sarah N, on April 6, 2016 at 2:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

What are some good up beat and celebratory exit songs for a Catholic mass wedding. I am struggling to find a really up beat and fun one. Thanks!

Check out Symphony No. 3 (Saint-Saëns) -- it's what we're using because we have a huge beautiful organ and it'd be a shame not to use it.

Guests in the crowd will recognize it as the "If I had Words" song from the movie Babe.

What does your priest think is acceptable? Some are more strict. Ours didn't mind songs as long as it wasn't rap or anything bad. We did rocking me baby by Steve Miller band. My DH loves that song.

I would check with your priest. Ours gave us a very specific list to chose from so I found the best off that list. We weren't allowed to stray from that list at all.

We have a list but there is some flexibility. What did you choose off the list?

Yes definitely check with your priest regarding song choices. We're using Handel's The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba.

As PPs have said.. check with your pastor/priest, as well as, your organist/cantor or wedding coordinator (if you have one specifically for the church -- we did, as it was a part of the package at the church). We had a very specific list to go by. We also had one song picked out but the organist preferred another one -- so we went with what he was comfortable with, since we weren't set on a song. To me it would be considered "upbeat".

Oops.. Just saw that you do have a list. Our Recessional ended up being: "Praise the Lord with Drums and Cymbals" by Sigfrid Karg-Elert.

It sounded so amazing on the church organ!

Our priest was open to stuff, we used "All I Ask of You" from Phantom of the Opera.

No organ Smiley sad but we do have a good sized band and choir (from the church) playing the mass and my former choir director singing. I would love something with lyrics.

My fiance is very traditional (he would have all Gregorian chant if he could), but I'm a bit less conservative when it comes to mass music. Surprisingly (after a good two months of pondering it), he agreed to "Hold Us Together" by Matt Maher for our recessional. It is a song that not all priests would be ok with (even my priest pulled a bit of a face when I mentioned it - I think he was counting on FH's ultra-traditionalism to win out), so you would definitely need to check if you were do it.
