Fun alternatives to a photo booth

Margot, on October 31, 2017 at 11:32 AM Posted in Planning 2 32

We really want to do a photo booth at our wedding, but we're having a hard time finding one that's a reasonable price, once all the fees are added in. Has anyone come up with a creative alternative to photo booths that worked well? We'd love suggestions!

You can buy cheap hole-in-face cut-outs and stand them up agaisnt a designed paper backdrop for people to take photos in

Skipping it is a valid option. I don't want people waiting in line to take photos when they could be dancing/socializing. I've always found them fun, but they're more expensive than I anticipated.

I have a really small guest count (29) and opted to create a DIY photobooth. Our backdrop for the altar is going to be super pretty, so once all of the seats are cleared (post-ceremony), the altar will essentially become the photobooth back drop. I bought a Polaroid camera on eBay, along with tons of film, and will be laying out a guest book encouraging people to take a photo, leave one in my DIY guest book, and take another as a keepsake! We bought enough film for each guest to take 3 photos, and since people will likely take group photos, I'm assuming there will be more than enough.

We did this and it was a hit.

This is our son in laws parent but the youngest granddaughter takes great pictures and everyone had their framed picture taken.

You could put props on each table and people can use them or not use them. Frankly, it's so overdone, I'd just skip it.

We are doing a selfie station where we will have the back drop, and props but they use their own phone or camera. I dont care what other people say. I know the people im inviting and i know they will love it and the back drop and props will get a good use out of them. I dont know about everyone else but i am from a very small low to middle class town. We literally have one stop light. The people that we are all inviting are just expecting good old hospitality and good vibes. They really wont put much thought into it. "Ugh they had a selfie station and not a real photo booth# !?!?!? WHO CARES.

I would just skip it, but alternatively you can do a couple selfie sticks in a corner near some pretty decor and let people have at it, which is something i've seen a couple times recently.

My friend is having a custom filter made for us on SnapChat. From my understanding it is very reasonable in pricing and that way people can take their own pictures around our venue and add our filter to them if they want to.

Nothing else is really necessary. I never really have time as a guest to partake in the photobooth (if it's there) because I'm too busy mingling with my cocktails and the dance floor.

Photo booths are not over done. People have been sitting for paintings and taking photos for centuries. You can do a homemade selfie station or even a caricaturist.

I'm sure your guests will enjoy whatever you decide to do.

I found an Instagram frame on Zazzle that we glued to foam board for a "selfie station." cost around $35 bucks!

(Pic is of 2 friends helping at my wedding crafting party)

Looove photobooths. You can totally do it yourself tho! There's so many ideas on Pinterest. My favorite is the one that looks like a Polaroid but is just a giant poster board.

You can also use a real Polaroid and just have people take pics with that like photo booth. Love those little photos!

We are doing a selfie station with a backdrop, props, a cardboard frame and selfie sticks. We spent probably $50 total on it. We have a lot of friends who love that cheesy stuff so I'm certain for our crowd it will be a hit. I personally don't think they're overdone and they're something entertaining that offers a little fun at the reception.

I love a good photo booth, but am not a fan of diy ones. We are only having 20 guests so the cost isn't reasonable for he guest list size. We are doing a Snapchat filter though, super cheap and lots of fun, but the majority of the younger people we are inviting actively use Snapchat.

I did Splurge for one, but the cost is absolutely ridiculous. You could print up some signs with wedding hashtags on them and put them around, then you could always go online search the#and print them out
