Friend getting married -- issues with Fh's divorced parents

karen, on August 24, 2019 at 10:52 AM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 4
The FH is closer with his mom than his dad. They are getting married in a church where the rows only have 5 seats, and he wants his mom and her family to get the first 4 rows, and his father (who he did not speak to for 5 years). I told my friend, no matter what, support your FH in the decisions he makes. No parents are paying. His stepmom tried insisting his half siblings MUST be attendants, and he said no. Now they are harping on seating, and bride and groom are exhausted with them. FH sent them an email, these are your seats.

I'm not sure what your question is? Either way, let your friends sort their own family issues out.

Friend asked me for advice, I thought I could post. I recommended she support her FH, and if his stepmom is not happy, be polite, but firm

Yeah, it's not the stepmom's wedding, so she can step back. Same with the rest of the family. It's FH's family, so it is up to him to decide how to handle them. I'm glad to hear he's standing up for himself. Your friend should absolutely be a united front with him, whatever he decides.

Hi there Karen! I feel you’ve offered your friend good advice here. It is important that she supports her FH’s decision. It is their wedding day and they can decide on where to seat people, etc.
