So first off I haven't planned anything lol we just had our baby November 2nd so basically I've been pregnant most of our engagement. We did look at venues over the last few months and again today, pretty sure we've found our venue and we're putting a deposit down Wednesday. Anywho, we're getting married on a Friday (September 7, 2018). I'm curious on if you had a Friday Wedding what time you began your ceremony, how everything went, if people actually showed up, if people stayed..etc. And if you didn't have a Friday Wedding what would you prefer as a guest for a wedding start time? If you think you'd stay?

I appreciate all responses!

I also had a Friday wedding with a 5:00 start in the DC area, so traffic is a beast. 100% of local guests invited were able to attend, I don't think people minding taking a half day off of work Smiley smile For people traveling, I don't think they minded since even a weekend wedding for traveling usually requires a day or so off of work.

I was the MOH in my friends wedding this past July and it was on Friday. It went very well, just make sure you give OOT guests advance notice and start your ceremony later in the evening (her's was at 5:30) so it's I adore for people to travel. Also keep in mind traffic may be very bad that day Smiley smile

Just as an idea; a few of my Friday couples have done their cocktail hour first (my other people do too....) I think it's a great way to start the party off!. Usually there is a bit of cocktail hour after, but just enough to regroup, take photos if necessary, and move to dinner. (This works best with a first look...)

I'd much rather take off early from work for a Friday wedding than be tired and hungover on Monday from a Sunday wedding.

I'm thinking based off of most repsonses we'll go with a 6pm start time. Traffic shouldn't be that bad. We've chosen a venue in midtown Kansas City, Missouri and all but 15 of our guests are local. I'll also be sending out save the dates in January or February to give that advanced notice. We actually booked our venue yesterday so I feel like we're making some progress here!

@celia I've been considering cocktail hour first but I haven't been to a wedding where that has happened lol doesn't sound like a bad idea though

I am having a 5:30 start time on a Friday. My wedding is a Friday before a holiday weekend so most friends offices close early that day. I have haven't had any issues with someone close not being able to make it. Wedding is in West Los Angeles so traffic would be a nightmare no matter what day I had the wedding.

If it was a Friday wedding as a guest I would say not til at least 6pm. That way people don't need to take off work to attend your wedding.

ETA: people saying that guests had no issue with it might just be because they would never voice that. I think it's inconsiderate to start a wedding any earlier than 6 on a Friday, if you must even do a Friday at all.
